Article 13

So I have recently watched a video from a small, yet awesome YouTube channel called the closer look, where a main issue is tackled. A law that is now becoming more liable to pass. Despite article 13 being a European law it will affect most of us. I wont say anything new here I am just shedding light on the issue.

so what is article 13, simply put it is a law that is put in place to further enhance the copyright law, where a platform would be penalized for copyright infringement instead of the plagiarizing creator. This in spite of being a meager change on what was already put in place, would alter everything; since now platforms must be ultra careful content does not exceed fair use which is highly subjective, they would have to ban every little piece of content made by indie creators from Europe viewers except for the few pieces of content they made sure that it would not break that law.

This as a result would disable access of a multitude of pieces of content like YouTube videos, blogs, reviews in Europe, which would adversely effect both content creators as there viewer base has decreased and viewers as they are not as free to select what they watch or read etc...

There are a couple of reasons the directive of the European Parliament and of the council on the digital signal market proposed that law is the decreased amount of money musicians earn from YouTube videos in comparison to Spotify.

This law has not been activated, yet. nevertheless in September 12 it was voted to move forward with that rule. and if nothing happens to stop that the policy might be finalized by the end of the year by the European parliament, the European council and the European commission. Provided that we managed to show the government and policy makers that this law can destroy people's career and adversely effect many this article wont become law.

So try to share awareness and if you are from Europe try to contact your MEP, send them email and sign it with your name and email so you wont be considered a bot.

Since according to saveyourinternet.eu images speak louder than words, here is their images that they encourage people to use to promote their site and motive.
