The Point Mugu surf contest was held this weekend at the beach on Point Mugu Naval Air Station, one of the three components of Naval Base Ventura County (the others being Port Hueneme and San Nicholas Island). The contest is hosted every year by the base Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, or MWR. The event gets bigger every year with vendors, music and food. Local pros pay $100 to surf in the contest because it gives them a chance to surf a beach that is otherwise off-limits to the general public. It's a south-facing beach and the waves rival County Line Beach when there's a south swell...which was not this weekend. Still, the small surf provided a decent canvas for these artists who turned in performances like this.

Another nice capture! I wonder how these guys do it. Sometimes, I trip over myself on flat ground.
