Wanna carve up the lip of a wave like the yellow competitor in the Point Mugu Surf Contest? Here's the secret, step by step.

It starts with wave selection. This looks like a juicy one:

Charge straight up the wave's face:

From there, flip it around like the title image showed, and then finish it off like this...piece of cake!

Awesome shots, Surfing is or used to be in NZ when I was growing up, but I only ever tried it once and I was terrible, I much preferred surf ski or swimming in the ocean

I'm enjoying stand-up paddle boarding now, but my wife and I stick to the harbors.

Thats popular where i live, I havent bene out here yet, but one day I will :)

You know what? I forgot to take a picture of the bracket that showed each competitor's color during each heat, so I don't know who this is or how he finished :-(

No worries, though I do like that the spot is only open once a year and it makes it a nice event.
