Hello everyone in the Steemit community, I am Luis Colmenares, a Venezuelan, father of 2, Sabrina and Rafael, museologist, cook, and freelancer. I was just accepted by this community and I hope to become a relevant part of it.
By this being, my first post I am going to introduce myself so you can know me a little and as a test run; I really do not know that well this site system.
I was born in Maracay, Venezuela when my country was considered one of the most successful countries in Latin-America, now has sunk in what we all come to know as the XXI Century Socialism, but that’s a subject for another post.
I lived almost my entire life in Venezuela, although not always in the same place and nor for a long time in any of those places; we used to travel a lot and moved too much in each city and for a couple of times we lived in the United States. All of this has made me become a person without any attachments to any house, city, group of people nor any place at all. I really do not know if that is a good or bad thing, but it definitely helped me when we choose to emigrate as a family (with my 2 children, my wife, my mother and my brother) because we barely left anything back and we took very little with us.
In September of 2016, we left our country to move to Chile, where we lived for a year but had to go because our visa was not approved, although we really enjoyed our time there, I honestly loved Chile, specifically, Viña del Mar which is a beautiful and attractive city.
Again, in September, but in 2017 we moved to Lima, Peru, is a huge city of approx. 10 million people. Since we got here we were very well received and ever since we have been trying to adapt ourselves to this country, this is a very different environment than the one we are used to, but we are grateful for how this country has welcomed the Venezuelan people.
Who knows where we will be next year? Nobody knows, but what I know is that we are going to keep searching for a place we can call home, in which we can continue fighting for a chance of a better future.
Best regards,
Luis Colmenares
