Steemit seems like an original approach to creating a Social Community, and I shall give it a try. I'm a retired software developer now writing novels, Raven's Gift and Amia's Gifts, see: http://ravensgift.com . I have published eight letters in the New York Times on a variety of subjects, and there are a few bits of wisdom in my blog, Precision Blogging ( http://precision-blogging.blogspot.com ), which of course became obsolete due to that other well-known social community.
I've developed a few rules for living that you will not find elsewhere. Here's one of them:
There are many occasions when someone asks you to do something and you are going to decline. Don't Give an Excuse! We are often tempted to make up an excuse, or to go on at length about the real excuse. If you politely say no, the other person will assume a reason for you that is much nicer than the real reason. Well, there are some people who won't; instead, they'll assume the worst. But nothing you could say would have persuaded them otherwise, so just politely decline.
