Hello Steemit! Just A Little Introduction.

Steemit seems to be all the rage today. It's all I am hearing about. So I thought it was time to give it a try.

My name is Alex, although my username is Brandon, which is my middle name. I can't figure out how to change my username yet. Might not be able to with the current version of Steemit. Anyway, I was born and raised in a small coal mining town in the Southwestern corner of Virginia. It’s the kind of small town where high school football is all anyone really cares about and everyone goes to church on Sundays just to keep up appearances. If you were lucky, you might find a decent job working in the coal industry, a call center, or the sewing factory. Today, the coal industry is beginning to disappear in the region largely due to cuts in the production of coal for cleaner forms of energy. This has led to a slow and steady decline of the town's population with its workers leaving the area in search of better opportunities.

Luckily, I managed to escape this little poverty stricken area of the Appalachian mountains almost 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't all bad growing up there. There was always something exciting to do. Just about every weekend you could find me and my buddies on some mountain top swinging from grapevines, exploring caves for Swift's lost treasure, or canoeing the rivers of the Breaks Interstate Park. Almost every Saturday night you could find a party to attend, whether you were invited or not. There was always live music. It was mostly bluegrass and country, but it was still fun to watch them sip moonshine and play into the morning hours.

Even today I still yearn for the mountains. I guess it's something that will never leave me.

I live in Nashville, TN now. It's not really that far away from where I grew up, but it is different in every way. Everything moves at a much faster pace here.

While in Nashville, I have had many different jobs. I have been a handy man, manager of an apartment complex, and even a farmer. I even worked for the U.S. postal processing center for a few weeks. I never imagined how badly they would treat the employees. I don't know how many times I had to wipe my supervisor's spit off my face when she was finished screaming at me. I now spend most of my time writing, blogging, and selling novelty t-shirts online. I also run a popular motorcycle buy-sell-trade website in my spare time.

I am excited to join this new and inspiring thing called Steemit and can't wait to start posting.

Cheers
