I am a 27 year old who likes to think he's funny, grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, could quote every episode of The Office, moved to Orlando for college (where I also met the love of my life), and hiked all the way up to Nova Scotia for a career. I have hardly scratched the surface and feel like I've been doing nothing but climbing this whole, but that's life right? Life's a journey, not a destination as Aerosmith would say.
I am an animator, which means I am a professional goof. I love to joke about basically everything. I suppose I should have seen it coming, since I am quite the animated fellow myself and always have been. After all, animators are actors behind the screen. Not that I could ever do what actors do, that is just unnerving thinking about what they do and all that spotlight, as fun as it would seem to be, especially at first. I animate characters, but my favorite thing to animate, and my current position at my current studio, is a special effects animator. Which means I animate water, fire, electricity, smoke, wind, pretty much any element or force of nature you could think of, and I love it. Interpreting science with nature into art makes me feel like a true alchemist. Transforming the laws of physics to your will, manipulating the very forces that drive the universe as we know it, feels pretty unreal if I do say so myself. I will for sure post my work and do recommended shorts if people want me to! I love animating small bits in 2D or 3D. Let me know if you want to see any of your ideas come alive and I will try to make some time for them!
I will try to post often on subjects that I am knowledgeable in, and am passionate about. I'm trying to connect with people and discuss things that mean something to us regardless of how trivial they may be, or how far into the future they may happen. Fundamentals are worth investing into, for sure, while I believe most importantly it is the people who we should be focusing on connecting with and gravitating towards. It's ironic how with all of this technology, all of this social media, true conversations seem to have truly been lost. There is little room for discussion these days, little room for the small things that make us happy. Our hobbies, our health, our interests, our careers. With our noses pressed so closely to the books we only notice the bold phrases with no context as we jump from line to line keeping our 2017-hasty pace - it's too hard to actually read. It isn't until we pull back and let our eyes readjust before we can comprehend what information is important within it's full context.
I notice this from my every day life, to my professional life, to my friends lives. It's happening all around us, and not to sound grim, but we never know when our last day will be, so we should truly treat every day like the scientific miracle they are. A few days ago I lost one of my closest friends I have ever had, a true brother. A child to my parents, and a person who changed my life and many lives of the people he'd met throughout his wonderful life. I won't get much into this, the reality still hasn't quite set in for me yet, depending on how many people listen, I may make a post dedicated to him and how we have all dealt with this in our different ways. I guess my point is try not to get so caught up in the man-made red tape that seems to be over everything these days. People shouting over one-another, no one wants to stop and listen. Anyways you get my point by now - sorry for the terrible sentence structure by the way.
On a brighter note I think I can start posting my artwork on here too, I wasn't sure if that was condoned or not. If people would like to see it, please let me know, I would be more than happy to post my animation work. I'm not sure if this is too long for an introducing myself, I'm not sure if it went too deep, and maybe I left out more about myself than I should have - but I like to think if I start getting responses and critiques I can post more stories about how I got to where I am, and stories about the amazing people I have met in my life. I hope to meet you one day!
I hope to talk soon!
Thank you for listening!
