Hey There, I'm Mike - I am the founder of Coincards.ca and a bitcoin/cryptocurrency enthusiast since 2013/2014.
I started my journey down this rabbit hole by following a dark staircase in downtown Vancouver into one of the spaces where crtpyo-nerds would gather, a space which is still there and still just as great! Being surrounded by everyone and being able to discuss and form new ideas in the very beginning was one of the greatest times of my life. I've been around to see many crypto giants rise, and a few fall.
When I came into bitcoin, there was a huge gap in the ability to spend it. In mid 2014, while dwelling in the crypto basements of Vancouver, I decided I would help bridge that gap.
Coincards.ca was created that weekend with an initial 50+ gift cards.
Now over 2 years later we have 200+ gift card with another 200 to be added within the week. We have helped many people cash in their bitcoins for things they need. We have now helped Canadians spend over 600k in Bitcoin for the necessities of life, and some of the finer things too!
Some of my favourite stories include someone who used our site to show his father how easy bitcoin was to use. I also heard feedback from another person who was hungry and had no food or money until payday, upon realizing he had $20 of bitcoin left, he was able to use our service and but a gift card for a dinner.
I've committed a lot of time into helping people spend their bitcoin. Eventually I would like to be able to approach some of the vendors I use and show them their customers want to use bitcoin which I hope to push further adoption.
Furthermore to any Canadians reading this and want to checkout my site, we are running a pretty sweet contest right now. Anyone who makes a purchase in November is automatically entered to win our Grand Prize of either $1000 in gift cards of $1000 in bitcoin.

All of our Altcoins right now are through Coinpayments.net, This allows us to easily accept a large chunk of alt coins without writing a new payment process for each. I suggest perhaps contacting them if you wish to have this coin added to their platform.
We are definitely open to adding any coin which is not a quick pump and dump and exit type coin ;)

Awesome concept and great way to make crypto currency 'user-friendly'. I'm very new to this world, so finding this kind of service reassures me that it's a feasible model. Thanks for providing this service and bringing it to our attention.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely trying to make it more user friendly, as I think that adoption will come from ease of use. :)
PS. Welcome to the crypto club :)
