I first heard about Steemit through my altcoin research, I came along Steem and was intrigued by the idea. I've been hanging around on Steemit/Dtube for a while and decided to jump into the community with this introducemyself post :)
About myself:
Hi, my name is David, 21 years of age and currently living in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). I first heard about Bitcoin from a classmate just before Mt. Gox. He (the classmate) told me bitcoin had gone up an insane amount and was pretty much too expensive to get into at that point. I talked with him a bit and did some research at home but I decided it was indeed too expensive at that point and forgot about it for a while. In October 2017 I bought a tiny amount of bitcoin (30$ worth). A few months later some friends of mine got involved in the cryptocurrency space which led to me reading up more on the technology of bitcoin. I learned about the huge amount of altcoins and initially bought some Ethereum @450$ apiece. Later on I bought some Reddcoin(RDD), Verge(XVG), Monero(XMR), NEO(NEO), Dubaicoin(DBIX), Electroneum(ETN), Aragon(ANT), Upfiring(UFR), Social Send(SEND) and a few others. I saw some great gains in December which sparked my interest into crypto even more. Unfortunately, I was a bit greedy and lost most of these gains with the recent FUD I'm sure you're all aware of. Still it has been a very interesting and exciting journey so far and I am confident in the future of crypto as a whole!
Getting personal:
I currently study mechanical engineering in the Netherlands.
My hobbies include rock climbing, car mechanics, mountain biking, road-biking, building bicycles (mostly fixed gears and road bikes), programming (I love doing personal projects the most), building stuff (houses/sheds, desks, workshops, making custom tools), working with CAD programs (making 3d models) and sports in general.

I you guys are interested I could post a detailed article about one of my builds on Steemit soon, please let me know.
My Dtube:
On my Dtube channel I post my favorite music from various artists. My goal is to build a community around my music channel and let as many people enjoy interesting creations from known and less known artists. I make sure to credit the creators of the music/images used in my video description. The music I upload ranges from drum and bass to future house. Some of my uploads can be viewed via these links:
- Sean Mackey - Discover
- Mitis - Parting
- Movement - Like Lust
- Lyves x Synkro - Body Close (very unique style in my opinion)
- Skeler X Y Tho - Final Call (wait for the drop )
- Koda - Staying (if you like this one also check out Koda - Hands)
- Thelema - Øfdream (one of my favorites)
My channel contains many more videos which I urge you to check out, I could not include all genres in the few links above :) Thank you! I sincerely hope you enjoy the music on the channel as much as I do.
I've got a list of additional music which I plan on uploading in the near future. Any suggestions regarding music choice, background choice or any other aspect of my Dtube channel would be greatly appreciated!

The laser cutter was eventually built and tested, footage of one of these tests (the blue light is my favorite part):

Converted a shed (which was falling apart) into a tiny house):
And when it was all done it looked like this:
Converted an old truck trailer into a forest hideaway:
I love programming especially for personal projects, since the start of my studies at Delft I've been working on a few programming projects related to CAD/3d modeling, I'd like to tell you a bit about these projects:
Automatic batch renderer:
The first major project I started programming on was a script for 3ds max (my 3d modeling software of choice) which automates the rendering process (rendering process = making presentation images from the created 3d models). In general, when making said presentation images there is quite a lot of manual work to be done for each image that needs to be created. Materials and lighting need to be setup, render settings such as resolution need to be adjusted. Cameras from different angles need to be setup and the object needs to be rotated in order to 'fit' properly in the rendering window. This process (including waiting for the computer to finish rendering) would take me approximately 40-50 minutes per 3d model and was quite repetitive.
The script I've been working on automatically applies materials, lighting, changes render settings, places cameras from standard angles and positions/zooms said cameras, rotates the object to acquire the correct 'fit' for each camera angle and renders and saves each image. This script's aim is to let the computer take over most of the manual repetitive work to let the 3d artist focus on their projects instead. Furthermore, the script can handle batches of files, in other words: a user can select a folder containing thousands (or more) files and the script will automatically go through all of them and perform the previously mentioned steps on all of the files, therefore saving an enormous amount of time.
The script still has some errors but I plan on fixing these in the near future. The scripting was done in Maxscript (a proprietary script language for 3ds max, the CAD software I am using).
I've written several smaller scripts related to the render script including a script which orders objects in a neat pattern (which lets the artist clearly see all models he/she is working with). Please tell me if you would be interested in a more in depth explanation regarding any of these projects.
I've learned a lot from forums and by experimenting with the code during these projects.

Greetings and welcome to Steemit! I'm an old M.E. guy myself that just didn't enjoy engineering :D Ultimately, I got into business startups and entrepreneurship. Around here, it is a lot of fun and there are so many apps and things to do here so check out DTube, DLive, and DSound just to name a few. As well, check out my page sometime. I hang out around DTube a fair bit, but also enjoy some novice photography. Welcome aboard!
