The Spanish Agency of Protection (AEPD) has sanctioned a WhatsApp and Facebook for a sum of 300,000€ considering that the privacy policy offered does not comply with the normatives.
The company alleged that the infraction that was given to WhatsApp was made by the fact of having passed information on Facebook without the consent of the users.
AEPD indicated that new users on WhatsApp do not have the option of having their data transferred to Facebook for advertising purposes.
Facebook destines this data to its own advertising purpose and to improve its products as well as for other purposes, which requires a free, specific and informed consent of the users to process this data.
