My names Mariah. I live in a small town called Marshall, you'll find it located in the lower part of Michigan. I've lived here all 23 of my years. I always knew I didn't really fit into the whole "You have to study something and go to school for it and have a career!". I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I know now that's because that lifestyle isn't for me. I have a job right now working as a service advisor at a local car dealership and I spend most of my time there trying to understand Steemit and dig deeper into the world of crypto. I joined Steemit in hopes to find different ideas from different people for myself to use and grow from. I have a place in this world, and now is my time to dive in and find it, hopefully with a little help from you guys.

I actually enjoyed reading this post. A lot of people including myself get isolated by technology and society. Sometimes we should remember we are all the same and talk to each other. (Although it`s through the internet which is kinda ironic)

Thank you! I heavily agree. I really enjoy reading posts on here and finding new people to follow but what fun is it if you can't have a bunch of friends on here to also share it with!? It is kind of ironic, it's stress relieving in a way though! It's a place where people with like minded thoughts can learn from each other and eventually be able to share things like Steemit on levels outside of technology! Knowledge is for sure power just as much as it's empowering.

I want to use it as a tool where I can live my life and learn about things I think matter, and learn how to make a difference for all types of people and then take those things and spread that knowledge with everyone else! I think some people are intimidated by sites like this one but if I can get the hang of it, I feel like I can help those around me get the hang of it! Or at least that's what i'm hoping for anyhow. I never felt like I fit in and the whole stereotypical lifestyle always sounded like a big load of dog shit....Yes go to college and sink yourself into endless debt. Then hope you actually get a job afterwords. That almost makes sense.
Work, dont even get me started about work. Slave your whole life away for a paycheck. I would rather LIVE than be a slave to society...

You know I think it might not be so bad if the world was actually fulfilling something I desire, but its just work. Usually painfully numbing work that really serves no purpose. Plus I always feel like I am worth so much more than that measly paycheck says. Maybe I am just screwed up, I guess some people are happy about that paycheck to me I just love freedom to do what I want. When I want! I got that entrepreneurial spirit I guess wanting to work in my home without all the stupid people I have to deal with at a job and a boss that's never happy no matter how hard you slave away!

I disagree! I don't think I would consider it a moot point! I'm just feeling out the site and people on it! I find an interest in everything there ever was. I love learning about what makes other people happy, it doesn't have to be something I would take interest in by myself. Sometimes people can surprise you and by golly I want to be surprised! Welcome to steemit Mariah, you have nice eyes! I liked what you said about not knowing what you wanted to be, and that you didn't feel like you fit in the career lifestyle! Most people still think in the old paradigm of trading their time for money, working full-time jobs, but some of us might feel instead the real goal is freedom from that.. maybe self development, or pursuit of art in all its forms. Yep, those full-time hours are a drag, even in an ideal job! I find it funny that the average person where I work actually seems to prefer working full-time, as if they wouldn't know what to do with themselves with no constant job (other than watch tv!)... I think that breaking free of society starts with expanding our hobbies, doing something that actually excites us and figuring out a way to get paid from it - do you know what that is for you yet?

You know, no I don't. In my first post ever on here I kind of mentioned a job I had gotten while I was in high school. My father owned a Towing and Recovery business and I loved that job more than life itself. I ran the whole operation for about six years before my dad sold the business. After that I got a new job because the direction the new owners were taking the business was weird and almost careless. I got a job working at a court house near by and I hated that, I didn't like being the one taking money from people who had gotten tickets, that's when I began to really hate government. I quit there and got a job working at a local car dealership and I don't like this job either. I don't really know what to try or where to go from here but I do know that I love Steemit. And I'm hoping that by being on here I can think of some new ideas for myself and eventually be able to turn this life around.
