I mean it is a simple introduction and a story is to some degree mythical, right?
Once upon a time Jesse turned 26 years old, growing tired of being lonely and depressed he decided to travel. After a number of jobs in a number of places "Is working a job and going home much of a life?" he pondered. As much as he appreciated having a predictable routine, it also grind his gears with a bottomless pit of emptiness. It's not that he didn't want to work, or was in someway believed to be disabled in any way. Having worked over 15 different jobs in several different places, he found that perhaps the modern life others lives just simply not his.
Ah but he has found a way to live somewhat of the life he has dreams about visiting fancy beaches, driving cars that display means and flirting with most attractive women in the world. Instead of "working" in the traditional sense, Jesse decided he'd play confidence games. In fact, scamming others came extremely naturally to him even he was surprised by his brilliant intelligence but personally thought of himself as retard. Yet with his ability observe his surroundings, mirror others and ability to use those things with sharp witty humor gives his victims or "marks" a chance. Of course all the victims have a chance to leave up and dry, but it so rarely happens since all he does is sell the con off by letting the mark sell themselves into it. Just mere humbleness and willingness to flatter them proves a solid method for the best con of all, it's the con that doesn't look, taste, feel, smell or see a scam at all because it's not after all.
All of his scams are related to begging, mooching all the resources he needs when he wants or needs them. Posing as someone who is less intelligent and extremely humble, looking like kid from the suburbs and keeping moderately clean because he's found being a little dirty helps lure the victims better. In addition to keeping a little bit of dirt under his fingernails, he also know his exact target market which are those who he communicates through elementary marketing tactics. Instead of cold calling individuals with the old and worn out "spare change" to people in parking lots, gas stations, department stores, etc. what he uses is simple cardboard sign with a magnum sharpie marker. Using only one or two words per sign, with words that trigger emotions so his lure is set to reel in the suckers. Traveling all across the United States (except Alaska & Hawaii, no worries) he strategically thinks out his short cons to keep food in his gut and gas in his tank. Just to note he does work temp work or day labor at times just because.
Coming from a stable family whose parents are married 25 plus years, grew up in a upper middle class in Michigan. Jesse is the eldest and only boy with two little sisters, dad always hard working to support the family and a mother who for a time was emotionally abusive. As a little boy he was always fascinated by business, entrepreneurship , playing guitar and having fun. Being a teenager was average hell any teen experience, but he also looked after his mothers emotional need since dad wasn't around because of work. Jesse would sip coffee pretty much every weekend or at least felt like every single week, but as he sipped and listened to his mom share in description the problems she felt apart of the relationship between her and her husband. This went on for some time, until finally once taking the first leap of confidence in himself for the second time in life Jesse took everything and left town. Carefully making mistakes to learn the ropes of being out on his own officially.
About a year or two later of a on and off again lifestyle between independence and living with parents, Jesse decides freedom from paying rent or car insurance is great. Homeless, perhaps...Nomad, even warmer. Con Artist...hot as hell. The best lies ever told are the ones we tell ourselves, whatever anyone else says holds absolutely no weight against it. Even by believing his own lies during a scam, it only allows others to feel the conviction of honesty, but little do you know he's scamming himself in the process of positioning himself at disadvantage of forming and contributing to relationships or a good reputation.
So Jesse has the habit of meeting new people creating a fantastic first impression then after a few weeks burning all the bridges he's built, yet not always by a scam, usually by feeling the relationship doesn't benefit him anymore. People to him are simply as loyal to him as things, worthless as a expired coupon. "does Jesse have empathy or remorse, does he even have a conscience???" you may be wondering, yes but seems to be able to turn it off. You aren't special to him despite how he may initially treat you, like a god. You are nothing more than a number out of infinite numbers, so many marks/suckers/victims to play with mentally and emotionally. Yet every one of them is none the wiser than the next. As the old saying goes "There's a sucker born every minute, one to trim em and one to knock em" and holds that same attitude more apparent during job interviews.
Oh yes, the interviews were the place Jesse loved because he knew how to target ideal work. For example, since he is very intelligent and very easily bored with work he ops for work below his skill level to look less intelligent and even please people around him to be on the fringe of society. Introverted predominately, enjoying reading books on sales, business, and persuasion and having very little social circles. Single but rarely mingles, prefers sex workers and strippers for he admires the pure capitalism about those professions he finds pleasurable on occasion before not long until finding it just as boring as watching the movie you loved watching as a kid for the billionth time over. YUCK!
Anyways, Jesse has a knack for selling himself to complete strangers and profit off of it. A rare skill set to have, but as much as he wants to get into sales he finds it's too restrictive with nurturing past clients and what not. Also for those that wouldn't know it because of being invisible and copes extremely well is, Jesse has a mental illness which is untreated clinical depression which disables him from maintaining many of the stable factors in life such as a job with benefits. In addition, since majority of the people including professionals with good intentions in the mental health field lack a deep comprehensive understanding of his deep bouts of depression. If professionals have difficulty understanding what's going on in particular to him, an average job hasn't a chance of comprehending. It would be like him seeing calculus, it would mean nothing.
So on the road Jesse thinks of different creative and lucrative ways to slip through the cracks with his con tricks, because the best ones never seem to feel like one. One favorite con of his is that of a beggar, simple yet effective short con to sufficiently stave off hunger and temporarily having enough gas to do something. He knows what he's actually selling, it's not his need exactly, it's hope and happiness the victims experience during the con so naturally encouraged by our innate desire as human beings to care for one another. His victims, regardless if race or income status fall for one of the oldest cons of all mentioned in the Adam & Eve myth in Genesis, that is to be god.
Question is, why does Jesse keep conning himself and others? Is he really such a immoral and cringe worthy to be even called human like you?
Seems like the stories I tell intrigue, inspire and have been told I'm an interesting person and should write a book. I doubt I have the faintest skill set for writing nor any desire to keep any of the stories I tell.
This life of Jesse's is hard to live, because he thinks himself as a retard. I wouod say Jesse hates himself. Thank you for the story and I'm looking forward for more.

Yes it is better some months/years and worse others...A lot of people tell me, even strangers tell me, "you're very intelligent" women tell me "you're funny"....I believe that latter. I do believe just a tid bit I do have some intelligence but find it hard to believe I'm anymore intelligent than the next person. As far as hating myself, I believe it's partly true because sometimes with the clinical depression it's very difficult to think well of oneself.
Thank you!
