This is our eldest dog, Jack! We adopted him after seeing an ad in our local paper for free beagle/labrador mixed puppies. My husband is a sucker for a little round head so I knew we would be picking one out.
My husband traveled to a nearby town, down a winding dirt road to find the owners. What he found was a beagle momma with 6 little pups who bounced around. All except one who hid under a table and looked lost. Our Jack.
That was back in 2005. Fast-forward to now. Jack is coming up on 12 years old. His black muzzle has gone white and his eyes are a little foggy, but he still goes on walks with my autistic son, pals around with our other dogs, and defends the porch from chickens.
Because he is such a mixed breed dog, he is only the height of a beagle and has the body and coloring of a lab. He is a funny-looking dog but we love him.
