Finally I can tell you the results of who entered and who has won the challenge. If I had known, how much work this kind of challenge is, I would have had much more respect for those who are already involved in this kind of things, like @timsaid, @jamtaylor, @pfunk, @luzcypher, @englishtchrivy and others... YOU have my RESPECT!
Back to the introduceyourhometown - Challenge
See who entered (in no specific order) and check their valuable content:
- @irime with Xalapa, Mexico and information from where Jalapenios come from
- @mars9 with Sohag, Egypt. Showing us architecture, sugar cane and the nile.
- @pipurilla with Luxembourg, showing us some important testicles (thus not the heart) of Europe with architecture and valuable impressions
- @mero with Luxor, again Egypt and another valuable impressions about ancient history and leftovers.
- @stephcurry California, United States bringing us to the shores of freedom, free speech and waves.
- @andreolf with Lugano, Switzerland. Introducing to us various hot spots of Lugano inviting us to come there and visit him (I will probably do so, one day ... )
- @styxer with Helsinki in Finland. Amazing us with scandinavian impressions from his hometown
- @barbara-orenya with Annecy in France. Introducing us with amazing photography to her little place in heaven.
- @marcelloblanco with Dusseldorf in Germany, giving us a first impression of one of the important german big cities. As I understand it, there will be a series coming, so stay tuned
- @timeshiftarts with El Cajon in California. Showing us a hidden gem in San Diego. I broke into a sweat by only seeing the pictures.
- @harrietbradley with The Isle of Wight, introducing to us the diamond and dinosaur island... check out why!
- @dreamer.golos Polevskoy from Ural mountains, giving us probably the most unexpected sight onto things behind several frontiers noone expected to ever cross until several years ago.
- @kpoxa with Shakhty in southern Russia, earlier called "Alexandrovsk-Grushevskii". Introducing us to "the mine" with all its colours, light and untouched nature, prooving to us that they are indeed not zombies or vampires...
- @frostyamber with Newburg, New Brunswick in Canada, showing us how life can be far away from what we call "civilization" and I love it (at least you have internet there, it seems ;-) ).
- @tarimta with Dusseldorf, Germany showing us a totally different and GREEN view of one of the most industrial cities of Germany.
- @natsmr with Saratov, Russia. Giving us a really nice historical and actual overview to her hometown ( I am really envie the fishing possibilities you got there )
- @poss with Ljubljana in Slovenia. Introducing to us the 2000 year old Dragon City with some impressive photography.
Probably I did think much too much about the process of finding a "winner". But now we are all winners, because here was created a lot of valuable content and noone was left with mere cents in rewards so far. I thank you all for your contributions.
So what did I do to find a winner? I checked the photography for originality, I checked the rewards that were already recieved, I tried to give the originality of the content several values (Informativity, humour, accuracy), I tried to value the quality of the original photos, I checked the formatting and I checked if a witness vote was given. At last, I did not care at all about timing, and knowledge of the english language. Finally I tried to put all this information in relation to the time spend on steemit (thus newcomers have a clear advantage to the "old hands" on this platform. When I was done, I got very clear 3 favourites and almost all the others on a very, very similar level, which made it almost impossible to decide which one had to be mentioned as better than the others.
Still I had to stick to my rules and here is the result:
5 honorable mentions (again in no specific order) 5 SBD sent to each of these:
(images taken from their articles, so all credit to them)
- @kpoxa with Shakhty
- @poss with Ljubljana
- @harrietbradley with The Isle of Wight
- @andreolf with Lugano
- @timeshiftarts with El Cajon
And now to the winners:
again all images taken from their articles and all credits to them!
Place 3 for 25 SBD:
@irime with her chili-pepper-hot introduction to Xalapa
Place 2 for 50 SBD:
@barbara-orenya with her stunning photography of Annecy and perfection beyond any travel guide that you can buy
And Place 1 for 100 SBD:
@dreamer.golos who has given me one of the biggest laughters of the last weeks and a very unusual insight to a place, that I probably will never see, and wouldn't have seen if it weren't for Steemit. Polevskoy
Finally a big thanks to @felixxx for adding 100 SBD to the pricepool (and helping me finding the winners) and to @pharesim for lending me part of his votingpower to upvote each entry.
And at last a big thank you to @redtravels who inspired me with his idea of the #introduceyourhometown to this challenge. I created a chatroom, where he is a moderator, hoping there will be many more entries and discussions about our hometowns. I will check there regularly and upvote fitting entries...

Oh wow! Thank you so much, @pollux.one!
I am so glad that you enjoyed my post, I feel honored to have been selected (I also love how I'm featured devouring a taco as the cover pic for my entry, haha).
I am sure I speak for everyone when I say we really appreciate your efforts running this challenge (especially because you gave us newbies a chance to be showcased). As you said, not only was it fun to talk about a place that is so dear to me and show it to the world through my personal view, but I also got to explore lots of other amazing places by looking at the other entries. Now I am seriously in love with Annecy!
