A Desert Rat Says Hello

"You should try Steemit!" Jamie had said enthusiastically.

Steemit? What the hell is "steemit"? I'd just quit my job and had no idea what I was going to do next. What I did know was that three decades of working in the toxic environment that is the casino industry was enough. It was time to crawl out of that cesspool and leave it behind. So now what? I'd always wanted to write, but a couple of failed platforms, combined with a lack of time, served to temper that desire. Well, now I had the time and Jamie had suggested an intriguing platform.

I had no idea what Steemit was, but I looked into it. I still don't really know what it is, or how it works. Upvotes, downvotes, Steem cypto, Steem Power, buying votes, selling votes, minnows, whales, blockchain. What the hell? I'm in my late 50's, and suddenly my dinosaur is showing. I'm out of my element... except for words. I know words, and I like writing them. Perhaps I'll pick up on the rest as I go along, but that's not really important. The creative process is what truly matters, and Steem is a platform in which to explore that process. So write I shall and maybe somebody will read, perhaps even enjoy, my work. Let's see where this journey goes, and with that, I say... “Hello!”
