Awkward introduction...

in introduceyourself •  9 years ago

Hey Steemit. So i've been going through what the basic things to do when starting up are, and the top suggestion was an 'introduce yourself'. So here it goes.

To start off, my names Allegra. If you had somehow missed it when opening this post, with my name on it...

If you ask someone i know to describe me they would probably say i'm a very 'awkward' person. Meaning i'm one of those unfortunate teenagers that struggles with socialising. It may be because i'm a very blunt person, leading me to say things as they are; offensive or not. This contributes to my many reasons to not like people that much, so i don't socialise as much as the people around me would like. Or enjoy it.
Another thing being i don't show emotions very much, such as upset or sympathy. I just don't feel them, which surprises people. That makes me sound like an emo, which i can promise you now, I AM NOT. No offence to any emos out there, but i don't agree with labels, so wont be classed as one (that and i don't share the same interests as you anyway)

I wasn't planning on this being a very long and ranted post about the struggles of being a teenager. But i would suggest watching 'The Perks Of Being a Wallflower'. That pretty much sums me up. If i'm being very honest i wasn't planning this post at all, does that make it more personal? If thats the right word to describe it...

Just a quick question to society though, why are there so many struggles of being a teenager many adults don't seem to understand? I mean you've been through it all already, doesn't that mean you should have some sort of understanding, or even sympathy for us? In your defence though this is a different generation, we've grown p with technology, don't have to walk miles to school,

yada yada yada... I hear it a lot.

Anyway i hope that didn't take a weird rant turn, my future ones won't, unless you enjoy that of course. But I don't as my attention span is shorter than most.

i hope you guys enjoyed, you may not have learned much about me, but theres a comment section, ask questions if you want to. Or just wait for future posts where i may reveal more...

Bye!

Hi Allegra. You make a good point: life is very different today from when your parents were teenagers. Still, many of the challenges of growing up are universal and common to every generation. It may be hard to accept, but here's a thought for you: it's not that your parents don't remember and understand those challenges; it is that they have lived a lot more life than you have, and have gained greater experience, perspective, wisdom, and yes, understanding than they had as teenagers. So what you view as their lack of understanding, is well, really your own. It's not your fault. It's life. You age, you experience, you learn, you grow. You will one day have enough life under your belt to see what your parents see that you cannot yet. Best to you on your journey. :)
