I'm a 24 year old fresh out of college (and by fresh I mean almost a year). I grew up in a rural little town in Alabama, but I currently reside in Atlanta. If you've seen the post-credit scene of the most recent Avengers movie, i've worked at that Dunkin' Donuts in the background for around 2 and half years. I have made sure most people I encounter know this. IMG_0001 (1).jpg

I'm an absolute book nerd to the core and would love to see a tag for it here (or perhaps i'm missing it?)
I have a hard time expressing myself and opening up to people, so maybe this would be a good outlet. I'm looking forward to seeing what this has to offer!

Hello amandaray57! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

@wonderlamp

Welcome to the site. I am pretty sure there are a few decent literature tags here but they may be a little hard to find. The best way to "search" for them is to erase toe name of one tag in the web address and type in whichever one you are looking for.

It can take a little time for your blog to take off so don't get discouraged. When you are new here, it is often more profitable to comment than it it is to post but that will change as you get a following.

There are a bunch of bots, spammers, and scammers here so be careful not to follow and upvote someone because they left some vague comment and never click on links that people leave in comments unless you know were it leads.

I went ahead and followed you because I am a bit of a book nerd myself and I'd like to see what you have to say about them.

Good luck.

Thank you for the advice and follow!

No problem. No one really told me anything other than the normal B.S. everyone gets when they start so it took me a few months to figure things out a little bit (I'm still no expert by any stretch of the imagination) and that translated into me getting super disappointed and making sub par content.

You should do fine but it can take a little time. The trick is making steady and consistent content while also trying to develop relationships with those who are part of the communities that you frequent here.

Nerds are beautiful for sure. I'm sometimes a book nerd. Wow, Avengers. In the background. Magical. Sweet home, Alabama. I'm from Oregon. I'm Joey.

Nice to meet you, Joey!
