Hello everyone on steem! I'm Ann. I'm a developer, gamer, and sports lover. This is just a start of a new journey & to begin a new journey on steem I would like to start with my views on Rio Olympics.
As everyone knows the 2016 Olympics slotted to commence on August 5 in Rio, but the big question remains unanswered - Is Rio really ready for the big event. Answers may differ from person to person but in my opinion, Rio preparations for the games is scrambling to finish.
The events, sports, great sportsmen, and competitions may seem to make a great competition at Rio from the perspective of a sports lover, but to be honest from a common man's point of view Brazil is struggling to maintain peace and fight the ZICA virus that continues to haunt Brazil. It is also considered by many that holding the Olympics in Rio this year is a bad idea.
Several sportsmen and athletes have decided to give a miss to Rio in fear of the virus, Ireland's golfer Rory McIlroy is the most recent dropout, despite all the conditions and fear prevailing in Brazil, the health minister, Ricardo Barros continues to say that "there is almost zero risk".
The country has been under a lot of pressure as it has been struggling to gather the required funds for the preparation of the Games due the recession in the past. Brazilian citizens have been fighting against the government and several protests have broken out in Brazil over the use of funds. What the citizens of Brazil require at the moment is not the games but hospitals, Medicines, Emergency services and good schools.
The idea of hosting the games at this moment in a country that has been going through a bad phase is definitely not a good idea and I would definitely go with the view of the citizens of Brazil: that the funds should be used for the betterment of tomorrow.
