Hi, and welcome to The Awesome Homestead!
We are Richard and Cheyanne. Nowe that that is out of the way,
We are a couple of absolutely normal people.... riiight, like you'll believe that!
Cheyanne is a city girl from Eugene Oregon. Richard grew up on a homestead in southern California.
In 2013 I (Richard) was discharged from the army with a medical retirement. We had no where to go so, we lived in our car staying with friends and family.
making the most out of life.
We have 4 small breed dogs, and in Oregon it was extremely hard to find anywhere to live with 4 dogs, especially being disabled and on a fixed income.
But these guys are our babies. So we had to findo another solution
This went on until we found a room for rent and stayed there for nearly a year . Eventually I got deathly sick and was hospitalized, 3 weeks after I was dicharged we were back to being homeless. That's where this blog begins.
Now we are on our own land building a homestead. And we are able to finely live a life in freedom and love.
Eventually we get chickens and goats and start a proper homestead. Any way, I'll if you've read this far and enjoyed it. Feel free to comment and check out my previous posts that show pictures and video of our journey From Homeless to Homestead, With The Awesome Homestead!

In addition to being a residential security expert, I'm also a private investigator. People watching is a passion of mine. One of the things I do is look through intro posts for new accounts that show promise. Yours does!
There are a ton of other webpages to help you with Steemit. Here are some of the best for beginners:
https://steemd.com/ (This site is used to keep track of your voting power and other stats. You do not want to run out of voting power, and you only get so much per day. I keep my voting power around 80% for example.)
https://steem.makerwannabe.com/ (This site will tell you who follows you, who unfollows you, and who mutes you. It is great for meeting new people too. I regularly check it to see who has followed me to see if I should follow them back.)
https://steemit.chat/ (This site is the official chat webpage for Steemit. There are Discord channels too, but I usually stick to the official site. Come in to network and meet new friends. You can directly message people there too, so it makes it easier to communicate with your closest friends.)
Oh yeah, there are a lot of bots on here. If you see a cookie cutter reply, especially to your intro post, it is almost certainly a bot. Check the account's reputation. If it is low, I would recommend just ignoring them. Everything is public on Steemit, so you can go look at an account's comments and replies. Are they all the same? It's a bot.
Adding photos to your account as a new Steemian may be confusing at first too. The easiest way it to click to "Submit a Story." Once in there, use the built in Steemit tool to upload an image from your computer. Below the posting window, you will see "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them." Click on the blue text. Once the image is uploaded, you can copy and paste the link into your account settings.

I hadn't tried to add a photo from a phone until you asked this question. It looks like it is very simple.
At the bottom of your new post it says "Insert images by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard, or by selecting them."
Click on "selecting them" and it will open a dialogue on your phone to select the appropriate folder on your phone where your pictures are stored. Click on the picture you want and it will add it to your story.
Pro Tip: Make sure your blinking cursor is where you want it before you select your photo. It will add it where you left your cursor.

The offgrid life is challenging but very rewarding. I haven't cut the cord myself, but I have grown a massive garden, had goats, chickens, and 2 dogs. I think you seem very normal to me.
How did your time in the military and becoming disabled change your view of life? I'm a Ron Paul fan, and I've heard him talk so many times about how there are plenty who serve, or have served, how think these wars are absolutely the wrong way to achieve peace with other countries. I would be curious to learn more about your experience and how it has changed your worldview.

The heat source is necessary to take off the screen from its base, because it is adhered by a special glue and the heat will dry the glue. If there is an alternative solution, I tell you, let me investigate, if I can get information that can help you, I post it.
