There are a lot of groups that have formed to help new users get a leg up. @newbieresteemday is one, along with @greetersguild, it was through #greetersguild that I found your post. Anyone that uses either of those tags would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have, and if they don't know they will try to point you in the right direction.

There is also a pretty good sized food, and vegan followers in steemit, as you visit pages, take note of what tags they use, those pages that you like and then use a few of them on some of your post.
