I very much appreciate pictures of the children and I have the opportunity to do a little after that many of our friends have had babies.
Probably, the most important advice that I have learned in the photographing is to mount at their level. Many of my friends show me photos of their children who are taken of approximately 4 feet above the child who does that the Nain and make them nearly look like toys.
Put themselves on the hands and knees or hang before taking a blow of a child takes you into their world and help you to engage with them through the pictures that you take.
Photograph of BABIES Babies
are particularly difficult to photograph because they are if immobile. I find that one of the best ways to get good shots is to put them on a carpet of baby and also literally to lie down at the side of them with your camera on the ground. In this way, you look directly in their large beautiful eyes and puts the viewer of the photo in the unique perspective of a eye on the eye. If the child has the possibility to raise the head, the effects can be astonishing because you find almost in the eyes.

Photograph the older children
the same principle of lowering applies to older children, even if you have a little less of lying on the ground with them when they have the age of walk.
I find particularly that, with older children, the best time to photograph them is that they are doing something that they appreciate. Go to the park with them and their parents, visit their home when they paint pictures, bring them to do a tour of their house or to take them to play their favorite sport.
While they are exercising their activity around them (at their level) and take a lot of shots. Also include beatings with them and their parents and keep an eye open for these moments candid when they fall, made of expressions funny or do the shit for the camera.
If your camera has a continuous shooting mode, this could also argued the penalty to keep with children more large who tend to move more. Looking back The times where I have done this, it is very interesting to see that it is often the second or the third shot in a sequence which is the best. Draw a single frame at a time can mean that you miss these opportunities of gold.

Another advantage of the continuous shooting is that you can find you with a large series of shots that could be well together to tell a story
Change your focal length
another excellent way to change the angles of your shots during the photograph of the children is to use different focal lengths. If you use a DSLR, it could be worthwhile to invest in a few different lenses (a large angle and zoom more long) to give you different options. If you use a point and a socket of View (most of which have at least a 3x optical zoom), make sure you use.
Take photos with a focal width wide angle can be particularly effective when you approach the children. It opens the angles and gives all kinds of interesting prospects. I use a zoom lens of 17-40 mm on my digital SLR that is bright for this. It still allow me to Zoom a little but to 17mm, the impact is incredible.
A ZOOM allows you to take pictures of more and more far and will be particularly useful if the child you distracted by taking photos. I use a zoom 70-200mm (the third image above was taken with it) that I find very useful.
