Hey everybody...

Newbie here. Longtime Reddit lurker finally starting to post. A few days before I found Steem I was actually thinking about how our personal data is so valuable after reading an article from The Economist. "The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data". (http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21721656-data-economy-demands-new-approach-antitrust-rules-worlds-most-valuable-resource). I started thinking about how it would be cool instead of large corporations selling our data, we could sell our own if we wanted. To have some say, ownership of the content or data I created would be pretty cool. I know this probably won't happen because we are "creating" data on the software that someone else developed so we don't "own" it. Shit, John Deer doesn't even want us to own their tractors after we buy it. Since there is now software involved we no longer own, but license their products. This might allow them to legally be the only ones who can fix and sell the parts to their grass Zambonis.

Anyway, I like the idea of Steem, been hodling Bitcoin and Ethereum for a bit over a year and am starting to realize the potential of blockchain technology and how it can change the internet, currency, shit the world.
