Hi Steemers! I'm Can Inelli. A Carbon Based Life Form.

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

Besides being a carbon based life form -adrift through spacetime- on a planet named Earth, I am an amateur Astronomer & Astrophotographer, an Aviator, a Culinary Artist, a Cosmist, a Windsurfer, a promoter of Science and a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineer.

I have always gazed up. Aviation has been my passion since I was a little child, thus I've trained with Gliders and Gyrocopters during my University years. I've tried to reach the highest possible altitude that I could. Unfortunately I’m not an astronaut so I couldn't pass the Karman line physically yet.

I'm also a self taught Culinary Artist. I've created my own conceptual culinary art and was featured in various magazines, newspapers and gathered thousands of followers on social media. I will provide the links below so you can check them out.

My astrophotography passion started a few years ago when I was out at a beach near Alacati, Izmir in Turkey, far away from city lights, gazing up at the night sky only to see the milky way with naked eye for the first time. As Carl Sagan once said, "when you're in love, you want to tell the world". I fell in love with the cosmos and I wanted to tell the world. I wanted to make people around me realise the universe they live in, question, think. Thus I've decided to take photos of the night sky, our galaxy and deep sky objects to share. Since then I've gathered around 17000 followers on my personal Instagram gallery. I've met lots of amazing people with whom I share common interests and similar world-views.

In our century, most homo sapiens are born and raised in cities where light pollution hinders the sight of stars, nebulae and galaxies. Contrary to our hunter and forager ancestors, today we lost our visual (naked eye) connection to cosmos. (Yeah we have satellites, telescopes and technology but that's not the point.)

Find a dark area far away from cities. Lie down and savor the night sky. You will see meteors rushing through the atmosphere, thousands of distant stars, the milky way and if you look carefully you might even spot M31 Andromeda Galaxy with naked eye. It's not just you that's alive, but cosmos itself is also alive. Nothing stays still in the cosmos. All is flux.

Time is relative but it's safe to say that life is too short because according to "The Cosmic Calendar" you don't even exist for half a second.

Thus I try to enjoy that half a second while I have the chance, for I know that I will cease to exist very soon.

You won me right there...

That's how I define myself. I'm not fond of borders, nationalism, countries, religion etc.
We are all stardust and that's what matters.

Too bad not many people realize that.

Culinary artist - I like the sound of that.
I'd better go and eat some breakfast before I go out for lunch.

Maybe one day we'll cook together huh ? :) Wish you a nice day!

If you can cook fish 'n' chips like this guy, you're on!
