Hi Steemit i'm Celestial Cow, fully plant powered, food anarchist and diet revolutionist. EXCITED TO BE HERE....! ๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ ๐ŸŒฑ โ˜ฎ๏ธ

I am 30 years old, my attitude was always to live everyday as your last, I have been quite a restless person most of my life never committing to a career, spending all my money traveling the world solo.

steemithello2.jpg

Experiencing all kinds of cultures, learning from people and seeing different perspectives on life has taught me so much, but the shocking reality is we live in a world in crisis. How can people still be starving, malnourished, no access to running water or a proper toilet? How can this still be happening when there is enough in the world to feed everyone?!

1933738_507346628973_4847_n.jpg

This was me, chubby 19 year old, volunteering with a youth project for a summer in Uganda. Living daily on biscuits, sugary white bread and coca cola, I was full of enthusiasm but often low in energy. I was eating meat too and never considered anything of it, I thought it was normal and natural.

I worked in a bistro restaurant for many years, during this time I became vegetarian at home but still enjoyed eating organic beef burgers for an occasional staff dinner.
It's okay if it's organic RIGHT ?????
WRONG
Well it took quite a few years to work out that one out.
For me the transition to veganism happened for health reasons initially but then โ€ฆโ€ฆ
Lets say purifying my body helped me to wake up!

426195_891596259633_1160335845_n.jpg

Never had I imagined living solely on a plant based diet, a life without my favorite foods chocolate and chicken. I had no idea that switching to a vegan diet is the most direct way you can contribute to saving the planet and that animal agriculture contributes to large amounts of green house emissions. I didn't know about its impact on water usage, wastage and land use. That it is the most destructive industry on the planet responsible for deforestation, threatening endangered animals into extinction and all of this is happening at an alarming rate. Wait! that's not all, animal agriculture produces enough grain to feed every single hungry person on the planet, instead we use it to feed billions of livestock, that we then turn into the next meal, it just doesn't seem to make sense!

It took me 3 years to become fully vegan, for many people it takes time to transition, our bodies are addicted, filled with toxins, and conditioned to consume animal products. Transformation is a journey and doesn't just happen over night,
but today i'm excited to introduce you to...Celestial Cow, fully plant powered, food anarchist and diet revolutionist. I'm here joining steamit to be part of the digital revolution to free myself from the constrictions of society so I can share and help others. ๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ ๐ŸŒฑ โ˜ฎ๏ธ

IMG_20180124_085927_645.jpg

These days I'm pretty militant about my diet, I rarely eat out, even when i'm traveling, I explore the local vegetable markets and prepare myself fresh food daily. Its quite hard for me to trust restaurants, maybe because I worked in one for so many years. I know that ingredients such as refined sugars are frequently used to make the meal tasty. Iโ€™ve also boycotted all large supermarket chains, I only support local business and markets, especially those selling organic products.

IMG_20180123_135152.jpg

This selection is part of my weekly shop, I stay away from pre-packaged things, I donโ€™t even need to turn on my refrigerator, everything is fresh!
I've always enjoyed cooking tasty food, I often get inspired and end up creating my own recipes to suit my needs, i'll be sharing these with you very soon.....

Likewsie :)
I see your based in India... this country changed my life, first picture of me above when I traveled there, that's when my spiritual side started to shine because there are so many beautiful people there opened up again!

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Hahaaaa, yes, mama India, unbeatable life changer, 15 years here now :-) I try to recognise the place but i don't, best guess Hampi... Will follow you a bit for the Anarchist part and the holy cow off course. Much love.

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

You know what I totally missed this comment. Yes u are right it is Hampi, this was the highlight for me, (i stayed on the quiet side) but the part with all the ancient temples was so incredible, one day there was a festival and it is was totally crazy spectacle for the eyes! thanks for following me and voting me, i hope you like my posts so far (maybe not the coffee one ;) hehe! If you get a chance check out my friend @krystaleye she just joined (I brought her on here, cos she is an artist and struggling for work) she is amazing, i learnt all my computer skills from her, how to use video and photo editing, she is so creative and out of this world (shes also an astrologer and v spiritual) check her intro here

Glad you found the 'Replies' tab :-). Will follow your friend. I spend more than 50% of my votes on the Ecotrain passengers as i am the main curator on this so not many votes left for all the people i follow. You know i sometimes start my day with an orange juice now :-). Big hug

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

oh cool now im following ecotrain because this is the stuff i like to read about on steemit. I. read some of your old posts (seems like u dont post much, but u r doing other things i see) ur stories are really interesting. I also really hate these boarders thing. Even tho spain is in the EU i really struggled moving here tbh it took forever to register so i could have a special card so i could legally work here. then i got a job but the project closed down after 3 months of working. Steemit is my job now, i hope i can make it work so i cant stay here or the freedom to go anywhere so i dont have to move bk to uk! Im glad u changing ur morning routine up a bit, do u notice a difference? i even like a fresh ginger and hot water, or chai (not the indian way with all the sugar and milk - its gotta to be the natural way haha!) Big hugs back, just wondering do u have permanent residency there now or are u still in visa limbo?

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

ps u must be really crazy to drive on the roads between india and nepal! but better u are in charge driving then maybe someone else driving, havent been brave enough to take those routes myself!

So does food anarchist just mean you're a vegan or is there some new form of anarchism I'm not aware of yet? Haha

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Food anarchy, is boycotting all large companies and mass produced food!
I'm anarchist anyway, I don't vote, I don't conform to societies structures. I think human beings are better off governing themselves in small communities. That why I live in Catalunya, a republic of rebellion.

Hello :) Great introduction, I followed you and I curious to see where your blog is going to :)

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Thanks you, Soooo want to make my next post soon!

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Hello, CC, and Welcome to Steemit.

Very interesting and well-written intro. I believe you'll have plenty to bring to this great platform. Particularly with regard to diet, which is a serious issue in the civilized world.

Here's a link to a good Steemit friend of mine, and another diet revolutionary, whose interests blend with yours. @fitinfun

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20โ€“30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include plenty of photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be interesting and informative.
  5. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called โ€œshitpostsโ€ by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  6. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. Thatโ€™s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now.
Vive la diet revolution, and Full Steem Ahead.

Hi celestialcow, everything you said resonated with me so much. Would love to learn about organic farming from you, since thats also something I always wanted to delve into. All the best!

welcome to steemit @celestialcow, great name, I must say I'm a big fan of cows ever since I was a child, they are a big reason for me stopping eating meat all those years ago. There is a great community of people on here that are living sustainable lives. Resteemed

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Thanks, I choose the name because my star-sign is Taurus the bull and I have such a big love for cows another reason for me to wake up and realize where my burger meat was actually coming from, i'm so glad that's in my past now! :)

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Welcome to this great community

Entomophagy - humans have eaten bugs and insects since the dawn of humanity -and many cultures today continue to.
Grains, legumes, sugar, dairy, all are prohibited for Auto-Immune issues (gluten intolerance, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, yada yada).
I miss beer and pizza.
Still choking down broccoli but wishing for sweetcorn and butter.
"Suffering ends when craving ends" - so I'm also mindful of Buddhist detachment, and trying to distinguish it from apathy.
But don't listen to me! Your positive attitude is inspirational.

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

It's true! I have no problem with tribe, nomadic and our past human selves connection to the animal world.
People may have been hunter gathers, had herds of animals, and eaten the animal products in a lot smaller quantities than we do today. Mass production on a global scale is the issue.
Modern science has informed us that there are health issues surrounding animal products we have today, because of the large quantities we consume often they are tampered with other chemicals too!
I can't wait to share some helpful articles to help with cravings!
Thanks for your comment, it gives me motivation!

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

I guess your first photo is being clicked somewhere in India. Share all your travel experience with us, I hope we can learn something and get inspired by them.๐Ÿ˜„

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

You're not alone thinking "human beings are better off governing themselves in small communities"-- Native Americans did that. Tribe getting too big? Split it into smaller tribes.

ย  ยท ย 7 years agoย

Uuuu welcome hun! I want to see those reciepes soon! :D I work as a graphic designer and take salat with me, all sort of combination but i'm kind off stuck. Also I want to eat equilibrate, i mean with all my body need in a day, vitamins mineral etc. Follow you! Kisses
