introducing charlieb (not reddit's first commenter)

Hi Steemians, I'm charlieb.

I'm a 38 year old dad, husband and software guy.

My claim to fame was that I made the first comment on Reddit, more on that in a minute.

Here's a recent picture of me from a trip to NYC with the kids.

This picture really struck me because my face looks so lined, my hair is receding and yet I still look mostly happy.

I guess that's about right but most days I still feel like this guy.

My interests are programming, cryptocurrencies and generative art (I'm one of the mods there).

I've decided to verify that I am who I claim in a slightly unorthodox way. I've had to abuse the formatting a little to make this work so please forgive the ugliness and keep reading.

I've been on Reddit since it was announced on the usenet group comp.lang.lisp by pg himself.
I was there when comments were introduced and later when subreddits were added and I'm still active to this day. Some years after comments were introduced I was informed that I had made the very first comment on Reddit. I thought I remembered comments before mine but it was years later and I figured they might be right. Someone must have tagged me in res or something because most of the time when I make a comment I get at least one reply saying, "You're the first comment guy..." Several years go by and someone actually did check it out and it turns out I had the first comment on the thread that announced comments but not the first comment ever.
This was frankly kind of a relief because now I know that my memory is accurate.
