New to steemit not new to the blockchain, my name is Christian Gruber, and I'm a voluntaryist, coder, father, nerd.
Voluntaryist?
Yeah - I believe that no social relations are legitimate unless they are rooted in consent, and that the only legitimate use of violence is defensive. Beyond that, it's in the details. I've been on a fair journey, from a relatively socially-democratic youth, through a religious path via the Baha'i faith as an adult, later leaving that (I'm a non-militant atheist now) and exploring anarchism... the core idea above, about consent, has always been a key part of my view. In many ways, I think voluntaryism has been my "natural" home my whole life, and I was just struggling for a way to consistently express it. I saw voluntary aspects of all of the various things I've investigated and participated in, and where I disagreed, it usually was where consent wasn't preserved and honored. So it's been a nice journey, and it's been nice to see this consistent thread in my life.
Coder?
I code for a living, as well as other kinds of software development (variously, in my career, software design, project management, process improvement, infrastructure development, release engineering, etc.). These days I've been coding at Google, mostly in open-source, and am the original author of the Truth java testing framework and co-creator of Dagger, the dependency injection system, as well as others.
I do Java, Python, Objective-C, as well as a bit of Go and JavaScript (ew), and others a lot less well. Oh, I guess I kick ass shell scripting, but that seems like something you just pick up on the go.
Father?
Yep. I have a wonderful 4yo daughter who is worth every moment of investment, in emotional pay-back. I love her to bits. Trying to do a variant of peaceful-parenting, though not with ease. #thestruggle
Nerd?
Yeah... and various kinds of nerd:
- economics: I regularly read treatises, listen to economics podcasts and audiobooks, willingly and enthusiastically. And not just economics I agree with, since you have to keep an open mind.
- political philosophy: I'm largely uninterested in electoral politics, but the ideas that shape communities and polities through history fascinate me, and I read about them all the time.
- video games: I <3 video games, though I don't have enough time to play as much as I might like. Given my difficulty with scheduling, I rarely do MMO or multiplayer in general, preferring games I can pause and walk away from for a while. Kerbal Space Program, the Civ series, other strategy stuff.
- science and technology: I lust after new tech, and freak out at new discoveries.
- computing: blah blah software blah. Languages are fun. No, I probably am not interested in your fancy new type system. But I might be interested in how you solve a new (or old) problem in an interesting or novel (or beautiful) way.
- relationships and sexuality: I'm interested in human dynamics and interactions, social, political, economic... and romantic and sexual relationships are no exception. As a side note, I'm polyamorous.
- probably others I'm not thinking of...
That's all I got for now. I variously have blogged at GeekInASuit, Liberty.ME, and have an article at The Daily Anarchist. I hope to post a lot more in various venues in the future, including this platform.
Edited: Fixed bullets since steemit's Markdown processor doesn't handle multi-line bullets properly. It infers a new-line where there isn't one.
wellcome

We live in the age of fulfillment.
A small reference to the Baha'i faith ;-)

:) I think it's true, whether you come at it from a Baha'i point of view, or from several others. In many ways we are realizing the potential of our species, and figuring out our path to maturity.
