Hello everyone :)
I’ve been contemplating Steem for the last couple of weeks, and finally decided to give it a shot. Being a long time crypto enthusiast and a bit of a rebel at heart, I find the concept interesting and to some extent radical. Also, as a individual who’s spent a lot of time trading derivatives and studying financial markets, I’m really curious whether Steem’s business model can hold water in real life and keeping my fingers crossed.
Having ran a startup with my close friend @innuendo (greetings man), I’ve been working on a universal protocol to code and match human intentions, thus enabling an easy way to construct shared economy enterprises. It’s been a rough ride, but we’re getting somewhere and learning loads as we go along.
Instinctively, I tend to see the world as an intertwined, intuitive organism that is subject to constant change, and generally eludes the rational mind. This in my eyes applies to all the subjects I follow closely or engage in, such as global markets, currency trading, political trends, art, music, disruptive technologies and other game changing phenomenons.
I’m also a big believer in human progress, although I strongly feel that everything we achieve or value needs to be protected, fought for on daily basis and never taken for granted. Once we get lazy or too comfortable, shit hits the fan. Even empires fail this way, so no entity seems exempt from this painful truth.
Last but not least, in my eyes, confrontation of viewpoints, even if rough, is absolutely crucial for humanity to thrive, hence any form of stifling of freedom of speech, or the recent nightmare of political correctness is extremely dangerous to free society in the long run. I hope Steem is going to provide an awesome, censorship-free platform for this purpose.
But to not get carried away... I was only saying hi :)
I wish everyone here a fruitful, prosperous and inspiring journey, and hope to see you guys and girls around.
Welcome! I like your idea of thinking in terms of organisms. I've been trying to better understand the emergent properties of large groups of human beings because I think we're moving towards a voluntary society with no need for government (which I define as a monopoly on the use of force in a geographic region). What is often considered an individualistic worldview (libertarianism/voluntaryism/anarchy) has the challenge of solving real problems which emerge when people get together. From my perspective, this view is more reliant on "the other" because of the lack of coercion.

Agree, and also it seems like crypto has a huge role to play in this self-governing paradigm. The tensions are pretty high, the powers that be are going mental to stifle manifestations of free thinking by putting all kinds of nasty labels on it, or making it downright illegal. This is a fascinating time and seems like there's quite a lot do on this front, right here and now.
