Hello Steemit! Wait...am I doing this right?

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

Hello everyone! I am brand new to the steemosphere so here goes my attempt at an introductory post. Wish me luck!

My name is Amanda, I am a (nearly) 40 year old happily married mother of two. I live in beautiful sunny Florida and one my favorite things to do is work outside with my plants. I stick to growing my favorites, which are any plants that are hard to kill. That way I feel like an expert gardener. ')20171025_182342_resized.jpg

I am not big on social media, I do not have an instagram or facebook account. So I am not used to taking pics of myself and posting them online. I thought I would post a pic of the view from my back porch for my introductory photo. As you can probably tell I am not that great at taking photos because the post-it note covered some of the prettiest parts of the view.

One thing I feel you should know about me is that I am bipolar. The real deal. I feel it is so very important to lift the veil on mental health issues and remove the stigma attached. One way for me to do so is to write about my experiences, good and bad, to give people a chance to understand my perspective. I look forward to telling you my story.

Well I think that's it for tonight. I am so excited to be a part of the steemit community and I can't wait to see what's in store!

Welcome to Steemit, Amanda. Don't worry you'll learn how to post pictures properly very soon. It's just a matter of time. That was very brave of you to come out and tell about your mental health issues, it takes a lot of courage. I will look forward to read more from you. Keep Steeming On!

Thank you for sharing Amanda. The father of my amazing girlfriend's two children is bi-polar. I will follow you to maybe gain more insight into what it's like. I kinda see it from the outsider's view as you can imagine. I have lost patience many times with him. Many many many times.

But he has sought help recently and got good meds and financial help from the government. And he has made respectable strides. So maybe you sharing your story can help me understand him better.

I'll be honest I have a copy and paste greeting that I do for new members. But I think for this one I'll just leave it be and say welcome, glad you are here. Followed and upvoted!

So glad to hear from you. I know for those dealing with someone with bipolar it can be very frustrating and confusing, especially when it comes to the dynamic between parent and child. I imagine you have lost patience with him, there is only so much you can deal with sometimes. My husband has understandably lost his with me many many times as well. It is commendable that you are open to listening to the other perspective. That is so important for your girlfriend and especially the children. Whether you realize ti or not, that will be a tremendous help for them too.
Thank you so much for the genuine welcome! Followed back!

Welcome Amanda!
I think that it's a great idea! Share yours stories! :)
