Hello Steemit!
I'm a programmer, former paratrooper, and lawyer.
Jumping out of planes in Alaska was fun...even in the Army!
I have written a long (some have said epic) "Blockchain and Bitcoin for Normal People" series of posts.
In these posts, I explain without jargon what human problems the blockchain can address: value, trust, collective action, freeloading, moral hazard.
At the end, you should have lost all your confusion about what the blockchain is and how people can just create bitcoins out of thin air. You should have in some ways a better understanding than many people who've been trading and building blockchain technologies for a long time.
If you're interested, we'll delve into why Steemit is a truly important idea, explore from fundamentals why it's not a Ponzi scheme - but also examine why it may not survive long.
Many people defend Steemit against accusations that it's a Ponzi scheme by arguing that they haven't invested any money into it, but we can do better.
If there's interest, I'll also analyze Tone's critique of the Steemit whitepaper. Don't get scared, but here's a screenshot of Tone's criticism:
This guy here
He sort of scrawled all over the Steemit whitepaper without explaining his opinions clearly. I believe Tone has one deep area of confusion, and also a couple of well-placed points.
Here are my questions for you guys:
- what level of interest do you have in reading these essays here?
- If I publish them, should I post a big post with lots of links?
- Or should I do it normal blog-style, with posts coming out one by one for a few weeks?
Cheers,
coyotespike
