I’m 13 years old and I don’t want to lose my job to a robot.

I’m about to start high school and I’m beginning to think about my future and what I want to do with my life. I’ve started talking with my parents about the quality of education at my school and whether it will prepare me for the technological changes that are happening now.

Next week we’re going to visit a unique school in our area that gives students more freedom to decide what to learn. For example, I want to focus more on learning how to code, playing music, and sport. They even have a class where you can learn to code video games.

Check out this video of the principal of the school talking at a TEDx conference about how we need a revolution in education.

Here’s a little about me:

I was born in the United States but now live in Australia. I am the oldest of six children and a citizen of soon to be three countries.

I enjoy playing drums and guitar, as well as tennis and soccer. My other hobbies include reading and gaming.

Here’s a video of me at my church playing drums:

In school my favourite subjects are English, P.E. and I.T. I believe that in the future the best business opportunities will be in I.T. and software development.

Why I’m here on Steemit…

I’m here to learn.

I know very little about cryptocurrencies, but hopefully I can learn more from you guys here on Steemit. Obviously it’s going to be a part of the future, so I might as well start learning about it now. I’ve already read some interesting things.

I’m here to contribute.

I want to be a creator, not just a consumer of content. A lot of teenagers are always watching YouTube or playing Xbox, and I confess I do those things a lot too. I love to watch Jimmy Fallon! It’s fun but it’s not helping me get closer to my goal of having my own business. Though he does give me Donald Trump material, which I later show my friends with my authentic Donald Trump accent (also from Jimmy).

I’m here to find out if the things I’m thinking about are valuable.

I want to be an entrepreneur, but I’m not really sure what that will look like. One of the cool things about Steemit is that you know in a day or so if your ideas or creations are helpful to other people.

I’d love to be a part of helping to get other 13-17 year olds to use Steemit. I’ve already been telling my friends. The above photo is me hanging out with a few of them today. I’m the one in the cool mask.

I look forward to posting more and seeing what the future of Steemit brings!
