Hello Steemers! I am Cryptoking: an electronics engineer, cryptocurrency enthusiast, numismatist, Lay leader & community volunteer, a father of three lovely daughters and a newly born son!

in introduceyourself •  8 years ago

I am an engineering staff of a multi-national semiconductor company based in the USA with manufacturing plants in Asia and Europe, offering broad products in major industries such as Medical, Computing, Aerospace, Military, Automotive to name a few. Right now, we are focusing more on Internet-Of-Things (IoT) products for different customers.

How I Found Steemit?

I found SteemIt in an article entitled https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/steem-soars-1000-bypassing-litecoin-can-work/. I was curious a bit and later energized for what this cryptocurrency could offer to its members. I am new to blogging (me doing the blog myself :-)) though I desired to do it years back but it seems my energy was lost for some reason. But when I found Steemit, it seems my desire to do blogging was awakened once more! Hope this will be a second nature for me day-in and day-out. Also, I was inspired by @infovore's post to start this post. You may read his post here:

Anyway, Steemit really revolutionizes the social networking industry. Incentivizing its members by giving Steem currency for their blogs, posts and comments, is really a generous act on the part of the company. Though I am comparing it with the other social network (Tsu!) who also incentivized its members, in Steemit, it becomes easier, cooler and much straight-forward but of course it will depend on how or what your content is all about. Is it original or just plagiarized one? Well, it's up to the user or member if he/she wants to share something interesting, educational or just a plain post or garbage at all. Incentives will depend on them alone if they can attract the whales of this Steem ecosystem!

One thing I really love in Steemit is that, Steem dollar can be traded within its internal trading platform and can be transferred to other exchanges such as Poloniex and Bittrex in which I have accounts for my other cryptocurrency investments. That is really awesome! I can trade my own Steem to Bitcoin then to fiat currency i.e. USD and PHP. This really separates Steemit from others! Great Job Steemit Development Team!

Being A Cryptocurrency Enthusiast: What are my Cryptocurrency holdings?

I am basically into Bitcoin (BTC) since late 2013 when it was taking its momentum to its highest price. I haven’t trading Bitcoin yet to other cryptocurrency that time but I was investing in Mining, Gaming and Rental companies by buying its shares in an investment company that works like a NASDAQ. I was happy since most of the companies are really on IPO then with an opportunity for an upward price later if more people will invest!

But something unfortunate happened on my smartphone. It crashed!!! I cannot access anymore my investments because of the enabled 2FA verification. Although I gave all the needed information to disable the 2FA, the Admin support is not accepting my plea to my surprise until now! Right now, I am just on a seen mode on the account balance since the investment company is emailing me all of the incoming dividends from my investments and the latest balance on my account.

The lesson here is that to always save a copy of the QR-code during the enablement of 2FA verification in all of your transactions. We cannot tell when something unfortunate will happen!

The second cryptocurrency I am holding is the Ethereum (ETH) that features smart contract functionality. I believe on its viability for any corporate and government blockchain-based contracts and financial related items to name a few. I bought some of this coin for just $0.50 in cryptsy exchange but it is now closed and my coins are now gone! :-( It's good that ETH/ETC is available in almost all cryptocurrency exchanges so I can still own them.

The third one is the Leocoin (LEO) based in UK in which I hold since mid-2015. It is now on Proof-Of-Stake (POS) and it is giving me 10% for a 1000 Leocoins, 15% on 20,000 Leocoins and 20% on 50,000 Leocoins on annual basis if staked. I accumulated more of this coin when it was still 0.0002 btc. Its marketing strategy to grow their ecosystem is via MLM or Direct Selling. Now, I am trading a quarter of my holdings to BTC to trade with other cryptocurrencies!

The fourth one is the STEEM/SMD in which I am now accumulating via Bittrex exchange. I believe on its mission to return much of its value to the people who provide contributions by rewarding them with virtual currency just like this post. I promise, I will share this golden opportunity to all of my friends, relatives and others who want to change their lives for the better!

The next one is the LBRY Credits (LBC) that was just started on the 4th of July this year. LBRY is the first digital marketplace to be controlled by the market’s participants rather than a corporation or other 3rd-party. It is the most open, fair, and efficient marketplace for digital goods ever created, with an incentive design encouraging it to become the most complete.

You may get FREE LBC by joining the community in below link:

http://lbry.io/get/?r=MUpTf

and you may earn more by sharing your own link too. It is now being traded in Bittrex if you want to catch it at this early stage.

I have other cryptocurrencies like Neucoins, Bitshares, Yocoins and Dogecoins in my holdings but just small amounts less than a bitcoin value.

Being A Numismatist!

I was introduced to numismatics by a Catholic seminarian now a Chaplain in a Military camp on 1990 when I saw his collections of old Philippine coins. It was given to him by his friends, mostly from old or senior citizens in our Parish.

He gave me some to start with and then I started to grow my own collections gradually from coins to bills of different countries I traveled until now.

When the company I previously worked for sent me to the USA on 2003 for a business trip, I was really happy because I could start accumulating its 50 state quarters that are being minted that time for coin collecting in a 100 hole folder. Five quarters per minting facility are being issued annually starting 1999 to 2008. Minting facilities are Denver for the West Coast and Philadelphia for the East Coast. I have completed already the issued coins from Denver but I am still collecting most quarters from Philadelphia until now. If you have some of the missing coins to fill my folder, you can send me some and I will give you a good deal! Just kidding! ;-)

My Hometown

To give you a background on where I grew up, it is basically a small fishing village. We are living a very simple life in a place named Bayani that is situated at Naujan Lake, located in the northeastern corner of the province of Oriental Mindoro on Mindoro Island. It is the fifth largest freshwater lake in the Philippines and the main geographical feature of the Naujan Lake National Park.

This lake inhabits migratory birds, crane, tilapia, shrimps, varieties of gourami, catfish, mudfish, golden carp, freshwater crocodile: Mindoro Crocodile or Bukarot, and other species of birds and freshwater fishes.

Once in a while, my relatives would catch a Bukarot unintentionally and they will make it like a beef jerky and then they will give us the teeth to make as ornaments and amulets.

Unfortunately, Bukarot now is an endangered species and being protected in captivity.

My Childhood

My childhood was a colorful and memorable.

I learned how to swim at an early age since our house is just 50meters away from the river that is connected to the lake. Creativity honed my early years since no gadgets yet that time unlike the children of today. Our modern technologies give luxurious way of living for the kids of this new generation. Online and computer games made kids to be lazy – lazy to go to school, study, read a book and help their mothers on chores. They are accustomed to technology improvements and advancements.

Back then, because of limited resources or should I say because we can’t afford to buy toys in a huge toy store, we end up creating our own toys. We invented the stuffs we used for playtime, to keep our bored days happy. We used to play

Toy Guns

out of banana and coconut leaves or sometimes young bamboo branch,

Riding a Raft

using banana tree trunks after the storm, Taguan or hide-and-seek during the night,

Tumbang-preso

or hitting-the-tin-can,

Luksong-baka

or jump-over-the-cow,

Luksong-tinik

or jump-over-the-thorns,

Trumpo

or top,

Tayakad

using bamboo branch or coconut shells,

Saranggola or guryon or papagayo

or kite flying that is being done as an annual event in my hometown's plaza during Easter Sunday

with # Moriones Festival,

Pukpok-palayok

or hitting the pot and

Pabitin

during Patron Saint's day,

Teks,

Pagulong

using old motorcycle or bicycle tires,

Patintero,

Holen

or marbles,

Piko,

Sipa

or kick and many more.

Those games actually helped me what I am today and every child of my era. I have many friends because of the interactions made by the games itself. A child will learn to have teamwork, to decide by himself, to become independent and many other attributes that will help a child to shape his attitude and attributes.

Life then was really simple and those were the days I really miss!

But that’s life. I have to move on and we have to adapt with what the world is offering at the present moment but never forget the lessons of the past!

Future Plans

I will definitely be sharing and contributing quality contents in this Steemit community that will help its members to change from good to the better if not the best!

Incentives from my posts will be shared to the following: 25% will be retained as Steem Dollar, 25% will re-invested to Steem Power, 25% will go to Charities, 10% as contingency fund, 10% savings fund and 5% leisure fund!

Well, I have to park my pen or actually fingers for the moment and learn more about our community!

Thank you very much for reading my post!

Enjoy the Day and Let's Rock n' Roll to the Blockchain!

Welcome to Steemit! I'm a new user too; haven't gotten around to writing my introduction post yet so reading ones like yours to get some inspiration. :-)

I'm also passionate about cryptocurrency investing. Can't believe you lost access to your accounts because of the 2FA authentication! That must be agonizing! Isn't there some way to restore them from Google in the event that something happens to your mobile device? Now I feel paranoid and want to read up on it...

What's your take on ETH vs. ETC? I've got some of both. It was tempting to sell all my ETC right away, but decided to keep it as I'm not sure which one will win out in the end (or maybe they'll both keep going side by side).

And great pictures sharing some of your culture. Thanks for that bit of added flavor!

@cryptomancer, thank you for reading my post!

anyway, am glad you are into cryptocurrency too! I've tried googling too to regain my btc investments but no success. That's why I don't use anymore a 2FA based on QR code instead email and cellphone verifications only to make my investments safe.

For ETH/ETC, lets just monitor the market for a month maybe before we decide to sell or buy more!

Hoping to read your own introductions sooner! ;-)

Enjoy! Happy Steeming!

My pleasure, hope this grand Steem adventure works out well for both of us! Regarding ETH / ETC, it almost seems like the cryptocurrency equivalent of a stock split. Each currency, looked at individually, tends to fluctuate a lot in price, but taken together the combined ETH+ETC price is more stable. Looking at the combined price might be the best way to value them going forward, which means holding both long-term would be the best strategy. Of course too early to tell for sure just yet, will be very interesting to see what happens.

Regarding 2FA verification, I found this article, not sure if it helps your particular case but was interesting reading: http://lifehacker.com/what-do-i-do-if-i-use-two-factor-authentication-and-los-1668727532
