Hello :-)
I'm Daren, 'd3p0' is an anagram for Daren 3.0 - ha!
What a time in human history we are in huh?
Although I've just turned 50 (and very happy with that) Cambridge Analytica (BOOOO!) thinks differently they think I'm 34.
I'm pleased with that result because it makes me feel 'relevant and future ready' in my mind and soul, if not my body.
I'm very grateful to my dear friend @lloydavis for sharing his enthusiasm for Steemit and encouraging me to join the community here. Any new community takes a big investment in time to listen and understand before fully participating.
I'm a thinker and doer. I've been 'online' since 1996 and have got some good shit done for others.
The one project I'm most proudest of smuggling 50 Google Nexus One's into Sri Lanka after the genocide of the Tamils in 2010.
In my time, I've had a long meeting with Bill Gates (only once, that went well then hahaha) and I said to Mark Zuckerberg in the Playboy Casino ( I REALLY didn't want to be there, which is why I didn't listen properly) Las Vegas that Facebook "sounds a little niche, but very cool". Guess I called that one wrong? Or did I?
I'm the father to three men aged 30, 25 and 17. I'm very lucky to be their father.
They are curious, kind, ambitious and know how to love.
The pic is all three of them (my sons with their granny) at their Mum's wedding last year to her childhood sweetheart.
I know they were fine men that day.
I had two fathers:
Father Number 1 - Irish, violent, criminal (armed robbery and drug dealing circa 1965-73).
Apparently very funny, most loved him, although he was handful.
I don't know him, or even know if he is still alive.
I'd like to find him, but time is precious and it hasn't made the urgent list yet.
Father Number 2 - Scottish, violent, racist Policeman.
Everything that happened is not his fault, but I was on the end of his shit as a kid and teenager. He really tried no doubt, but it was more bad than good, which is the sad, when you've tried so hard.
The reason for sharing something so intimate about my life in my first post is to try to explain why I think like I do.
At a very early age I rejected my male role models. I created my own set of morals and ethics at about age 6-7 (one therapist suggested). The bottom line is, I'm a bit odd, and being my type of odd is getting easier and more enjoyable the older I get.
I care about people, I really do. I also give a shit about the future of humanity, I've tried not to, but I do and that's it, cased closed.
This is me last Sunday May 6th my 50th birthday weekend. It was hot hot hot in London, thank you Universe :-)
So, on Steemit my goal is to contribute and support the community as best as I can. My main stay updates will be my consciousness stream which can be diverse, naive and maybe now and again profound (so I'm told), we'll see. I'll also being sharing music often. I think in music, lucky me.
Thanks for reading, I hope I get to know you a little better here over the next few years.
Welcome to Steemit, d3p0! I wish you a very inspired experience here on Steemit! All the best

Welcome, welcome, welcome!
The "keep your feet on the ground" advice I give new people is:
Your first few posts may well be ignored. Don't be discouraged, it's the current state of the system (too many noobs, not enough curators) not you.
Keep making posts of this quality or better and you'll start to get noticed in 2-3 weeks. Keep powering your SBD and STEEM up when you get them.
This is capitalism and socialism - The more you've got, the more you get and the more you give, the more you get! How do you get some in the first place? You start giving! - you know that bit :)
There are no guarantees of rewards.
Keep it clean and keep it moving! (you know that bit too!)
I've given you some 100% votes on your first posts to get you going, I can't do that indefinitely but I will be voting regularly.
See you in the real world soon :)

I've done some tiny edits (bit of polishing) does that break or stretch any rules @lloyddavis - Might I have done more harm than good is my concern I guess.

Could sometime be before the end of June maybe? I'm touring around the UK (I can't afford international friend jaunts yet) to visit friends I've made IRL because of Twitter. I'd love a chance to talk about it in the podcast. I'm going to blog the experiences via Steemit.
Did you follow @DarenBBC on Twitter or @Daren140 ?
