Introduction: Day 1 as a Father, Musician, and apparently now a blogger.

Hello folks!
My name is Dowen. I am a 28 year old husband, and father of a 6 month old. I Love spending time with my wife, my son and my dog. Mostly the first two, my dog is kind of a dick.

I am also a musician, and have hemmed and hawed about starting a blog for some time. I used to sit and think about it, about what kind of content, what kind of videos. What kind of music, and how I want to present myself. But now, as I grow older, I find myself gaining some hippy-like traits. Music is meant to be shared, and so is life. So it's time to stop half writing songs, or recording things and leaving them sitting on my computer. It's time to open up a bit.

So here's the deal, I'm a bit of an introvert, and I am generally happiest writing alone. The problem with writing alone, is there is no accountability. There are no deadlines, or people in waiting. Hopefully, until now.

I have been working on a Thrash/Deathmetal album for a while, writing songs about Aliens, multiple dimensions, and humanity. Now that I am reading that, I realize how nerdy it comes off, and wonder how my wife doesn't make fun of me relentlessly. I also have a guilty pleasure of good pop music, so my I pod goes from Behemoth to Adele, and Dream Theater to Lady Gaga.

Initially, I wanted to make videos about home recording. But at some point I have decided that everyone talks about recording. Thousands of people know more than I do, and are much better suited for it than I am. So I have decided that this blog should be about the journey.

No, I am not a Hobbit wondering around with a ring. But instead, I'm just a dude who is trying to balance my time with my wife and son, and my needs as a musician.

So there it is. While it may be somewhat incoherent, this post is my first. Rather than gather a ton of content, I am going to just start. It's time to stop going back and forth in my mind about why I should, or should not. I am not a home recording expert. I am not a musical genius. But if you'd like, feel free to join me, and learn with me. Lets build a community of nerds. Lets talk about music and Aliens. Family and life.
