An introduction: To tell you who I am these days

"I think the only way to tell you who I am these days is to..."

Those were the words that Nina Simone used in the beginning of her set at Montreux Jazz in 76'. The performance was masterfully unique and the words said in between akin to poetry. A stream of Consciousness delivered with unyielding honesty, pouring out as if they were tempered in the swirling mess of Life itself.

She continued the sentence with "...to sing a song."

We each have our own way of trying to figure out who our past, present and future selves are, and who we'd like them to be.. And though the task, at times, seems as daunting as staring into an abyss, we each struggle with the Question through diverse and intertwining mediums. Sometimes it is in each other that we best find ourselves. Other times it is in Solitude. And both can be used to lose oneself as well. Perhaps if we are to find something, we must first be bereft of it. At some times I believe our search should be held in the name of great ideals, such as Equilibrium or Freedom. And definitely not in redefining their meaning to accommodate our penchant for living in complacency. And at others the greatest liberation seems to arise from considering these, and in fact all pursuits, as meaningless.

In my writing here in the steemit community I will be attempting to bring interest to several topics which I hold dear;

• Music and its artists through various genres

• Documentaries and films worth anyone's time

• Random rants and raves (free-form horseshit and blowing off steam)

• Bizzarostan*: An alien introduction to planet Earth and the many idiosyncrasies of its dwellers

• My experience as a traveler, couchsurfer, host and volunteer

My aim is to infuse these pursuits with the search for truth through sincerity. And make a buck doing it.
