Intro

I have recently entered the world of cryptocurrency in the tiniest of ways and have followed the rabbit hole down until I now find myself typing my first post for Steemit. My intention was only to purchase some SteemPower, but was amazed to find this community, it's kinda blowing my mind. @teamsteem -thanks for the intro template tips.

About Me

I'm a primary care provider in Seattle Washington. I am obsessed with something called Direct Primary Care. Here is my clinic.

goodmedclinic.com

You can also find me here:
personal facebook
and here:
GoodMed facebook.

I opened my current practice in August 2015 with a practice model called direct primary care, where we remove the insurance middleman from the doctor patient relationship. It is funny how just changing how basic care is paid for completely flips everything. My patients pay me a low flat monthly fee for unlimited access to our care. Now all of the incentives align. I am motivated to pack in as much value as possible with the goal of having the healthiest patients that I can, so I can take care of more patients. The patient is motivated because they have a small amount of skin in the game, but have access to high quality care without the fear of ridiculously inflated medical costs. I worry only about providing good care (not billing, code, and other insurance BS) and the patients can focus on being healthy. Our adults start at just $50 per month.

Why I'm Here

I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm not some internet celebrity with huge following, and it isn't really a goal of mine to be that either. I hustle in my practice to bring value to my local community. As I am learning more about Steemit, I am interested in providing value here as well. What I can offer is solid advise around living healthy. I believe finding health can be simple (not to be confused with "easy") and small daily choices impact health in small ways, but add up over time to create good health or disease. I'm all about the long game. Good health isn't found in a week, and bad health generally doesn't show up overnight. My value add to the community is to share what I understand to be true about creating health and happiness while educating about the US healthcare system and my thoughts on the change needed to fix it.

Super pumped to be here and looking forward to bring more content!

yes, this could be a good place for you. sounds like you are already working off the grid enough you are open to any number of new ideas. I think your basic foundational indoctrinations will be challenged in many ways, if you are holding on to them tightly at all.
I look at it like Jeff Tucker, ever read his books? Veterinary medicine and human medicine need not have 2 different cost structures for example. Treating humans should be roughly the same cost, but is not... and he goes into all the various reasons why. medical schools tied to big pharma, graduating far less numbers than they are capable of, inflates cost of access to practitioners, that are taught mostly to prescribe their drugs. If you don't agree, argue with him, not me by the way.
But I'm finding all most all my maladies and concerns get fixed by Rick Simpsons marijuana concentrate and I'm using it on skin cancer spots at the moment, and will put my parents on it, to fight their dementia. Huge amounts of anecdotal evidence (which finally can't be suppressed because it gets broadcast all over Youtube) shows it will kill most cancers, and is the best brain cancer treatment.

Tired of living in a world where Cancer institutes are still promoting poisons and radiation.

I haven't read Jeff Tucker, but the points you mention are spot on and do play a role in our messy system. My practice and many more like it prove the point, that very high quality healthcare for routine, preventative, acute, and chronic disease management doesn't need to be complicated or expensive. An interview with Mike Dendy in Forbes, here, speaks to the disincentive of hospitals and insurance companies to cut costs.
I have seen medical cannabis give people their lives back, and I think in the future we will look back on this period of "reefer madness" as politicized propaganda as the massive amount scientific evidence of benefit is overwhelming.

Good answer.
You will go far here.

If there is any way you can manage it, post once a day, and post about your most interesting case (in general terms I suppose) or point you would like to make about how folks can help themselves be healthy and keep out of the Dr. office.
Even if it's 5 paragraphs, and a picture to go with it of some kind.

Thanks for the feedback and your suggestions. Much appreciated!

Great that you are here! Welcome :)
