Introduce yourself (Chapter 1-College Life Story)

I know what they say in the hallways.

The smirks. The laughs. The way the other students, all have been rolling my eyes.

People think I am a joke. It is not that I am dumb. It is not that I doesn't fit in socially. In fact, it is not that anything is particularly wrong. It is more of a matter of nothing being particularly right, that for some students, I will never amount of anything.

I am Edwin B. Pairat Jr, 19-year-old Bachelor of Science in Mathematics concentration in Research and Statistics, smiles all the time. I do not have everything in life, I do not have any of those material possessions they have, my parents do not even have enough money to buy my school needs, projects even uniform. On the other hand, my parents are permanently separated. But I never complained.

Poverty carries some weight in accomplishing the fascinations we genuinely yearn for. Besides, when we aspire for something, we think positively for our psyche not to be suppressed by those disturbing notions. Surely, it would be a remarkable journey, with each step chiseling away the coarse stone to divulge a figure that cannot be copied and reproduced.

Among 9,000 students in my State College I am in, I am enormously passionate to my studies despite the circumstances I am into. Indeed, I am a person with a "burning heart"

My father is just a farmer while my mother is an OFW in Dubai. My family separated since I was 3 years old but sill they are my most prized possessions no matter the circumstances going through. They are also the one of my inspirations that drove myself to reach my dreams even we are not complete as long as we are still in touch. I will do everything for the sake of my family's future. So that in the future, I can repay the hardworks of my parents.

While some students are busy counting every penny they have, I am fine of what I have. Way back then, I matched salty affordable junkfoods with rice as my viand for lunch because I don't have enough budget to buy viand since my school needs is my priority. There are even times that I only ate rice with iodized salt.

Many students misjudged me because of my preconceptions based on the perceptible appearance.

I am a person who welcomes everything. I am open for anything, including the many changes that will come from now until the end of my life. For me, life will only get better.

Dedicate this to all fellow students around the world: You must not lose hope and continue your studies even you are in brink of suffering. Never lose hope because God will provide. God is there, our assistance, our provider. And also, we have a family and friends that are continuing and helping us on their prayers for us to pursue our dreams. Lastly, continue to strive harder because education is the key to be successful someday.

It is just a beginning. I am still discovering who I am. My preparation and sacrifices could lead to to just about everything. I showed the ability to do work, even excel from it.

My ways of seeing life gave us other people's hope, hope that we can pursue our dreams in life no matter how impossible things might get. some people easily surrender to the obstacles they face in life. I had many problems worse than many, but I did not sway that white flag easily.

Again, I am Edwin. It's just a reminder that some of you must not be easily swayed by life's brawls. Think again :)
