"You should have made your first million by 40" they said. Whoops!

I was diversifying some investments with the advice from my Dad, he even gave me a chart! but no; I had to screw it up lol. I had a chart of coins and was just splitting evenly between the 10 different selections which we had researched. I was supposed to buy Steem, but somehow in a boneheaded move I shape-shifted into Dash; something about an "x" in a column and my inability to see because I had fully melted my face trying to even understand the exchanges.

The Dash actually preformed OK it wasn't a bad mistake, and as you will see, in finding steemit the mistake became a benefit to me, I mean I have a pretty small investment. I am following the consolidation of these large gains to the markets just to try and keep my mind fresh, and to enjoy the bizarre nature of this technology. Absolutely, I am a holder and not a trader but I do read a lot and change my mind so I sometimes trade. Volatility Volatility Volatility Steem is backed by a unique concept that I agree with.

I came back with an afterthought!

I already get considerably more out of steemit than the value of what I post on steemit.
That makes it a win / win. This will always be the case, I can see that now.

Back to my story...
I am one who takes my lumps in an effort to learn from failure. I try to think of things beside my emotions and take people for who they are. My dad had asked me to learn these markets so in earnest I had to see what i had missed out on. I made a trip to google.

The classic search on google for me:
"what is steem coin"

I might as well have searched "what is M theory" or "what is the reason i lose socks" Steemit.com pages kept popping up in searches and to my amazement I followed those searches to become a member here. I am smart enough to see value in having the power to invest in myself and my friends or causes that I support.

That is the story of how I discovered this platform by researching cryptocurrency and was interested enough to join immediately. I don't crave the monetary reward as much as I have an appetite for reading at night. This is a great distraction from this new 24 hour market watch addiction. :)

I am a 39 year old sole proprietor who was born and raised in Kansas. My relationship status is "taken" as my Girlfriend and I have been together for 17 years, I currently live with her in Lawrence, KS. I would describe myself as: Halfway between an industrial design artist and engineer; I feed my creative cravings with projects and prototyping while keeping a garden, as well as breeding a flock of chickens(its basically a zombie war). Rather than building savings, I built on my design and build skillsets and now I have an interest in challenging myself to expand on the results of my endeavors. I look forward to exploring your interesting content. I enjoy listening and I enjoy giving sincere advice. Though I am very sincere and constructively positive, I am not your typical @empath, my advice is never mistake my kindness for weakness.

For me, it takes garbage in, garbage out to defeat the pressure of a blinking cursor, which creates a writers block counteractive to my colorful, and usually sunny personality. I come back and edit to improve for myself. It feels good to write something without upvotes every time because I feel free of all of that static. I have learned that the best way to learn is to drain the pool and dive in. It's best for me to write when inspired and return for markdown. Thanks for taking the time to read a little bit about what makes me tick.

I have some amazing friends who I also invited to join this inspirational environment. I do want to understand this platform and find myself through the future.

To my RL friends:
If you know me then you know why I asked you here. its to pilfer your votes!!!.... no it's because i see a value in you that I would like to see grow in spades. I want you to help me improve at my ability to describe this life as a place that is inspirational and full of color. I also want to invest my votes in you because I love you guys. I wanted you to get a username that you like so that we can enjoy each other steemedup.

This is me! I am an open book.

Welcome to Steemit. It is so interesting how different people find this amazing community. :)

It really is. In the end I joined because i like a valuable community that I lack within the other social realms. I like this concept; it is better than money to see how far an inspired person can go.

Welcome to Steemit, @empath!

Hope you enjoy being here!

Enjoyed learning more about you. We missed you at the meeting in K.C. on Sat. You are always so good about patiently answering my questions. I finally made it on Steemit. I have lots to learn as this is like a foreign language to me. I got a laptop computer on Sat. in K.C. so look forward to putting it to good use.

Empath,

It was great to meet you and share ideas at Leah and Franny's movie night. Hope to see you again as we explore crypto/steemit adventures.

Like your about you too. A beautiful heartful soul.

Best,
~ljl~
