well kids learn a language a lot faster once they're interested in it. I was in Japan long before I had kids, about 20 years ago. I lived in Tokyo and also travelled to Yokohama and Kyoto. I had a great time there. I LOVED Kyoto, very pretty and the people are completely different than the ones in Tokyo, less stressed. Never made it to Osaka. Maybe one day...

I do know that a lot of people from Tokyo tend to overwork themselves and there is a lot of stress thats why I prefer Osaka as thats were all the comedians are from ^.^ a lot of my friends are from Osaka and they are one of the most amazing people I ever met !

Yes, I've heard some good things about Osaka. And yes, the Tokyo people are usually overworked. The friends I made there were mostly from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the Philippines. I used to have 2 jobs and that was normal. A guy I worked with (Japanese) worked 3 jobs, went to school one day and took his drivers course on Sundays. He handed in 75% of his earnings to his parents. I've seen him sleep standing up on the train! But I think I didn't stay long enough to make any Japanese friends, as most didn't speak much English and I spoke even less Japanese. I am learning with my kids now, but it's not easy, and I have always been good at languages.

2 jobs???!!! wow ! that sounds so stressful 」(￣▽￣」) and I would not be able to ever do 3 jobs, I had 2 jobs at a point but that didnt last too long. The sleeping thing , there are always so many photos online of people sleeping in random places, it amazes me. Its tough to learn if you mainly speak English, my mother works in a Russian shop here in Ireland and she can barely speak English even though shes been here for 15 years!!!

Yeah, I worked part-time on both jobs, but still: you have to get from one place to the other and on time. So with one job for three hours a day/ five days a week, and the other 5 hours/ six days a week with sometimes one hour to get from one to the other, it was still an above average work week, with sometimes 11 hours on one day. Lucky for me, I soon found a job that paid more than the two combined, and only 5 hours a day. So that was great. But I wouldn't have been able to do what my colleague did.
