As a child I was never alone. Even when I wanted to be, I was not. As I lived through it, at first I was indifferent. Then, the older I got, the more annoyed I became. I was forced to share a bedroom with my next oldest brother. My two youngest sons do the same today, but they are still in the indifferent stage. One of my goals as their father is to try and make sure they have their own rooms soon.
My next oldest brother and I fought a lot. I remember throwing steak knives at each other at one point even. We were always crammed into the lousiest room in the house as the youngest, and we had absolutely no privacy. It was a situation neither of us wanted as we grew older. Finally, in high school, we had our own rooms. It was a welcomed relief too. Now, many years later though, I often question the long distances between myself and my siblings.
First, our father moved away, and then we all moved away. At one point, us siblings were within a two state area. Now we are spread out over many. My children grow up not knowing their cousins because of many reasons. One of them is the distance between us all of course. There are other reasons however, but I will not go into them in a public place. Needless to say though, my next oldest brother and I used to do everything together.
He is here on Steemit and has much to share, and I would like to introduce him to my friends and followers.
I will tell you a little about him as an additional introduction to his own. For over 20 years now, he has been a locksmith. For a very brief time in fact, I worked with him in training as a locksmith, but he stayed with the profession unlike me. If you have a question about locksmithing though, he will know the answer.
In addition to being a master locksmith, he's also a wood craftsman. I still remember in highschool how he was the teacher's "pet" as the best student the teacher had. Seriously, my brother was his best student, and he excelled at woodworking. After all of these years too, he still works with wood. Instead of making boring chests as we did in high school though, my brother makes spoons and other works of art out of unique woods to sell as collector pieces.
While not in his work shop, he also enjoys photography (also one of my passions) and outdoor activities.
His latest post for example is about a week long Boy Scout excursion into the wildnerness. Now that's roughing it! I am reminded of my earlier post about Paleowolf. I never feel more alive than when I am in the wilderness. I suspect my brother still has that bug within him too. There's something about being close to nature that calms the soul.
Although we grew up fighting all the time and went our separate ways years ago, we are still brothers. We are cut, as they say, from the same strand. If you enjoy my content therefore, you will almost certainly enjoy his. He is still new to Steemit, and I hope my followers and friends will give him a warm welcome! His handle is @ligneous. Follow him so that you may gain from his knowledge, experience, and adventures.
Hello and welcome to Steemit. Family saved my life and is why Im on Steemit today.

Apparently, I'm not the only one who had issues with steak knives and brothers. :)

Thanks! He's still learning the basics and still needs to set a lot of things up, but I think he'll do really well here once over the initial learning curve.
Edit: What is your brother's handle, so I can follow him please?

Although close quarters can be challenging and frustrating at times, they can be great too. My sisters and I shared one small room and my three brothers shared the other bedroom. We had to learn how to work things out. That is a great life skill to learn. We all still keep in close contact. I enjoyed your post. Thanks for sharing 😊

That is very true. People shouldn't need separate bedrooms. It reminds me of how Americans are very different from other cultures, and people here are really spoiled. A lot of people around the globe share floor space for sleeping. They certainly do not have separate bedrooms, and multiple families sometimes live together.
Thanks for your reply!
