Hello world, I'm Jade, and I make cool websites!

in introduceyourself •  8 years ago

Hello everybody! My name is Jade (also go under the alias of Fizzix). I'm a web and app developer from the Gold Coast, Australia. My hobbies include cryptocurrency trading, health, and coding.

I create small web startups in my spare time, and I'm going to share two with you today.

Nexus - https://nexus.social/

Nexus is a free web and mobile social network. It allows for posting images, text, products, services, videos, links and much more. Its other features include a live chat, marketplace, private groups, events, and a clean user interface that is user-friendly.

After completing the web version of Nexus, I then decided to create my own mobile hybrid framework so that I could seamlessly convert my web version into a mobile app for Android and iOS.

I developed Nexus in my spare time over the period of 3.5 years. I had to scrap 4 versions along the way to make sure that Nexus was modern and could handle new browsers and mobile platforms.

Nexus currently has 300+ members and growing.

SayGoodbye - https://saygoodbye.online/

SayGoodbye is an online and mobile platform allowing users to set up personalised messages that are sent to their loved ones if the unfortunate was to ever happen to them.

Users create a free account with us and begin to set up their messages. Messages basically consist of email addresses, names, and text. The user must also set up what we call "authorities". Authorities are people that the user trusts to report the passing to us if the unfortunate were to ever happen. Upon creating an authority, we send an automated email to them stating that the user has created an account here and that they are responsible for reporting the passing to us. All messages are encrypted and can only be decrypted by the users account.

When a passing is reported, I then manually review this (name, email, death certificate), and then release the messages to all recipients.

I'm hoping that SayGoodbye can help bring some people peace of mind that nothing will be left unsaid if the unfortunate was the ever happen to them.

Thank you for reading! I'm hoping to post some more tech and health articles over the next few days.

I'll be answering any questions in the comments section :)

Hello @fizzix and welcome to the Steemit community. I love the idea of SayGoodbye. It is sometimes hard for people (especially men) to say what they are feeling to their loved ones. Being able to put down in writing their thoughts and emotions is often much easier than verbal communication. Having a system like the one you have set up will empower a lot of people to do that and will also provide comfort to loved ones. My one concern would be malicious type messages - do you monitor this in any way?

Hello @maninayton, and thank you for your comment. I completely agree that men do find it hard to express their emotions and may hold back things that they would like to say to their loved ones. I'm hoping the SayGoodbye platform will help people here. Currently, no, we do not monitor the messages that users enter. Upon saving the messages, I save them using a 256 bit encryption, so that even I cannot read them when I login to the database for maintenance.

I fully understand and applaud your efforts to maintain privacy especially for messages such as these. I suppose it will have to be up to the integrity of the user to ensure the messages are appropriate. huge kudos for your efforts.
