As my introduction, I would like to share one of my greatest passions in life... Fleetwood Mac! I was a child of the 80's but Fleetwood Mac always played in the house. My father had a country band, so he liked to listen to bands with great songwriters. I remember listening to 8-Track tapes of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie crooning, while my Dad played along to "Rumours"
I have always been amazed by this group because of its unique yet timeless sound. There isn't a specific category that I feel they fit in... unless "70's Rock Band" is chosen, but even that is too generic.
What I love about the band is that the whole group is comprised of singer-songwriters, which is rare in any band. Usually you have one lead singer who writes most of the music, or a lead singer with songs written by other songwriters. Stevie Nicks, Lyndsey Buckingham, Christine McVee, and even Mick Fleetwood himself write songs or lyrics.
The band has over 50 top forty hits and 140 million records sold, and launch the solo career of Stevie Nicks, my favorite singer. Stevie Nicks has a soothing, crooning voice that makes for great background music when I am at work at my library, and tends to calm me so I can focus. Part of the thing I love is that I can't understand some of what she is singing, which makes for a small gift when I do figure it out (I am not one for reading lyrics of songs).
Stevie also wrote the iconic "Landslide" which was a top hit for 3 bands following Fleetwood Mac. To me, she is the queen of rock!
