New to STEEM and introducing myself!

in introduceyourself •  7 years ago

@hedgyman - welcome! I am also a nerd but the soft kind (software). I am not into gaming at all but am interested in venturing into mining directly in my own place or indirectly in a pool.
Anyways, welcome and please let me know if I can help.
All the best!

Mining is great if you're looking for alternative heating options for your home! I haven't had my furnace on all winter. My wife and I mine in a pool, as mining directly (unless you run a mining farm) isn't financially feasible.

We're looking at solar options at this point to off set the electricity costs which is the next step in ensuring we no longer have to rely on the over priced electrical companies.

Thank you for your comments. I understood that aspect of mining, but, I am still interested in having my own mining equipment IF I get to buy 100 acres of timberland in the Ozarks in Arkansas and set up my own electric generation to run them. The heat that they generate will be used for my greenhouse, a large one underground for fruit trees - perhaps even tropical fruit trees.

That would be amazing! Geothermal heating and cooling are definitely something I want to incorporate into my home to be more energy efficient. If you can run off solar you would be totally off the grid! I'll need a 5kwh system to be able to become self sufficient with my mining rigs.
