FreeTheory is a place to unravel those sporadic thoughts and theories that come to mind throughout the day. Less about fact-finding or even chasing down truth, and more focused on simple mental exercises within a line of thought. Asking questions, challenging beliefs, or satirizing social norms can be uncomfortable, but hey, so can working out or running a 5K. It's the thinker's high afterwards that makes it worth it.
The intention is to have this channel mostly focused on video content, but I'll be writing occasional blog posts here as well! I'm looking to attract new concepts, old wisdom, and just better quality ideas overall. Feel free to add your FreeTheories, as I'm always ready to sharpen mine.
The views I express here are just that: perspectives. Perspectives change as you walk through the forest, they also evolve while sitting still by the stream, and while lying down in the grass, eyes closed. They are subject to perception, rooted in our logical and emotional experiences. Yet, perspectives are never wrong; they are simply limited, lost, or misrepresented. They most certainly can influence someone to make a wrong decision, a hurtful word or action, but the perspective itself is merely the angle from which we interpret the world.
You might see a kitschy photograph of someone singlehandedly holding up the Tower of Pisa, but no matter what the interpretation is, that viewpoint still exists. It has no motive, no morals, no mores. The person offering the perspective might have their reasons and motives; initial distrust or light skepticism is natural. However, shutting out opinions that don't align with the familiar only serve to maintain blind spots. Faith is never built on the ideas we do or don't accept. It's having extra camera angles, acknowledging that opposing perspectives actually enhance the image and reveal where we are in the world.
All that to say, let us above all be loving in our discussion, civil in our discourse. We are, after all, not on a YouTube Thread...
