Dear Steemians,
I am happy to introduce myself today in this inspiring community. On my blog, I will share stories and tipps how I changed from full-time working mum to a more self-determined life.
For years, I felt stuck in this rat race of getting up early, going to work, returning home, sleeping, repeating. Of course, in that time I read books like the "4 hour work week" (Tim Ferriss) but that could not work out - it was like economic fiction for me.
But then I stumbled upon an article of Bronnie Ware with the top five regrets of the dying. This was my initial start! Because if you take the perspective of dying most problems in our life become sooo small. Everything is not important anymore as you cannot take anything with you on the other side. No money, no house, no car, no job, no merits.
I even wrote a German poem about it - that we enter this world with a sandglass in our hands. But we do not know whether it is a big one with sand for 100 years (what we all hope) or if it is a smaller one. And that we do not know, how much of our "life sand" has already fallen through.
The first step was the hardest as I am very needy for security and not really brave: I have responsibility for my family (husband and three kids), so I can not just quit everything and walk away.
I did the big cut in spring 2016, when I started to work part-time. I got more autonomy over my life time. But the most precious thing I receive is: the pressure is gone. No more pressure to lean in. Just more time. There is more space for doing other things and projects in my life.
On my blog, I will tell you about:
- how we did that financially (which took a bit of preparation) - finally out of debts now
- how we worked out our values and started to live balance with it
- time with my kids and my husband
- time for me - to learn new things and skills
- my projects (I wrote a book and started a furniture project) - with no pressure to make me rich or anything, just a a try to make the world a bit better from my perspective
When I watch the world, I think it is time that we all start to question, if this is the way we really want to live.
Or if we are just living in this matrix, this illusion, where we think we cannot or are too afraid to escape.
I invite you to follow me, to hear my stories. And to maybe get in control of your own life time budget (the rest of the sand in your own sandglass) as well. This would be the greatest return for me.
2018 - mindful instead of mind full :)
Yours, Christiane
The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems.
