Don't disturb Steemit whales

I understand that everyone likes to have a whale to upvote our post which makes it at least a hundred easily. It will be so cool!

Recently I have doing a bit of investigation like most newbies about how posts got pumped up to hundred SBD and over. It is true that many had at least one whale to upvote their posts while others may have bought upvotes.

After investigating further about the whales that gave the upvotes, I notice that many steemit members sent $0.001 SBD to them requesting for them to visit their posts under memo. Perhaps this is good if the whales welcome it but most of these posts did not receive any upvotes from the whales.

Imagine that one day you are a whale yourself and you receive daily hundreds of thousand of requests to visit their posts and you have a limited voting power daily even if you have huge steem power. Would it be a frustration to you?

I notice lots of advertisement like they can design their site and even scammer indicating that their accounts were stolen or going to be blocked.

Is this the conducive culture that we would like to have in steemit as a healthy community? I believe that the answer is no. We want the whales to continue to have a great experience in steemit and upvote those they feel deserving without being disturbed. Whales are not robots and they are not dumb so keep our dignity and write good post.

Write a post that compels others greatly to give you an upvote or write a core message that they feel strongly about and give you an upvote.

Don't disturb them even everyone likes to link up with them. Do it using the right channels like upvoting their posts and write the good comments. Investigate how to write a post that everyone is impressed!

Let's have a healthy culture in this steemit community with no vulgarity of remarks to guide newbies like us. Be polite at all times.

Do not intrude into the private space of the whales without invitation. I do not blame the whales for not responding when so many members are sending them $0.001 SBD to get noticed. They are not beggars so have dignity.

I am just stating my thoughts as a new member in steemit since steemit is a blog that allows us to freely write our thoughts as long as we are not scolding or being rude to other members.

Let's build a strong steemit community together and make lots of friends to support one another in our steemit learning journey!

Disclaimer: This post is just my thought and it does not represent anyone or trying to insult any member of their action. You can have your own opinion about my post but please be polite as I did not insult or scold anyone but to state a thought in the present situation that I see and discover.

"I don't get paid to write this" I think you may not understand the concept of Steem lol.

Thank you for pointing this out to me as a minnow! I have edited. Write directly as I think so a mistake indeed! :)

Very right. I underline that.

Very interesting post! I think it will better if we will support the good articles from new users in free way. It will create a good culture and will help to promote the steemit site.

Thank you and stay active in steemit!

U are right. Ive never begged for a vote, but often wonder how to get that whalevote as a newbie. Just think if a whale gave 1 - 100% upvote everyday to 1 newer striving member. Not everyone can deposit $20k nor can everyone write $100 articles. Users that only curate need a little nudge to keep them intrigued in the begining. Bad enough they wait 7 days to see any gains, more times than not, they are left depressed and unenergetic when they only get .50 in rewards. Nothings perfect but imperfect is better than Nothing!!!

It is true that the building process is difficult when we don't have that $20k to invest like the whales but we should learn to be patient and gather little by little. We can always write a post that speaks right to the hearts of whales and perhaps one of them will upvote. Choosing the right topic and give good opinion may be the ingredients for interesting content. These are still just my thoughts and not conclusive. We are all learning!

Building community is the way forward. Unfortunately some whales will not upvote your content even if they like it, but will instead sell their votes to bots, as this makes them more money. This whale in the link below describes his motivations for upvoting, and how according to him, you can increase your chances of being upvoted. His motivations are purely increasing profit for himself. I'm sure his outlook is not shared by every whale, but I would forget trying to attract whales and focus on creating good valuable content and building a strong community of many small players who reward each others work and can grow together.

Great sharing! I agree about focusing on creating good valuable content and building a strong community of many small genuine players. I am still learning and will want to grow in this area! No point disturbing the whales when they are not interested to help but there are some helpful ones as well. There are always two sides and thanks for sharing the other side of the story!

What a right words! Hope one day ill be a whale ;) So i could help all the minnows out!

That will be great if you are able to do so.

Our service is trying to bring more delegates! So i hope our voting power will grow by days!

To me, voting bot is only useful if we get more than double of our investment. Bidding is really not reliable. Hopefully you stay reliable if you are planning to build a reputation!

fun2learn, I will do my best to keep this service on a high service level! I hope steemit members will trust us and use our service!

yea i don't understand why whales have so much influence. seems counter-productive to an open and democratized community. but i'm also new here so i have a lot to learn. and maybe be a whale one day and i'll maybe understand

Perhap. Whales are people with high steem power and they are rich actually. With higher steem power, it is like the mining power. The higher mining power you have, the more you can mine. With greater steem power, their upvotes can worth a lot more.

You are hitting the nail on the head... Soliciting for upvotes from whales through backdoors is not nice... Its a major vice we are faced with here on steemit.... Its one of those silent wrongs no one really talks about (where will they start from? Who will champion the cause?). You have done well to address the matter head on.

I support you with my resteem service

Thank you for your great support to safeguard the privacy of the whales. It is really human rights. Even though they have large steem power, it is theirs so they can do whatever they want and upvote whoever they feel fit for it. It is theirs so no one should be pestering them or forcing them into anything. Human rights!

wow people do this? But I shouldn't be surprised, I've seen how stupidity and greed go hand in hand. It's actually rather typical of the human race. It's like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, everyone missing out on long term gains because 1 moron wants short term gains.
Also smart of you to tag "introduceyourself", so more noobs might see this :)

You are very sharp. Posting in introduceyourself can educate the minnows as well as whoever that is doing this as they are so eager to grow so they would be constantly gathering followers from introduceyourself. I am still a minnow so when I post this, no one can say because I am already earning large amount so no need to to this. I am still building and I have not reached even $30 per post at the point of this post. Thanks for your your support for this post! :> We must treat all whales in respect as they are the ones that can make a difference and motivate those serious steemit members who post diligently.
