Hi People Of Steem!

A little bit about me! I’m Matty, 26yo. I’m a video artist and also a current medical research participant! As I write this I’m on a medical trial locked away, giving my healthy body to test a new drug! 

I’m a video artist who focuses on social commentary through video. I thought Steemit would be a great opportunity to share my work. 

This is me on a roof in SF (not allowed to take photos whilst on the study sorry guys ) 

I’ve been making vide0 for as long as I can remember. It is not the easiest existence. I’ve been jumping between jobs and anything to pay the bills. However, it is all I know how to do.

You are probably thinking what’s it like to be on a medical trial! 

Well, I’ve done many and this one is pretty regimented! Blood tests are taken twice a day, urine samples 3 times a day. You also eat a very specific diet (on this study it’s a high fat diet) which you have to clock on and off at a particular time! Same time everyday. 

I’m on this study for 9 days. It’s a longer one, most only over a few days. However this one is an interesting one….there are also another 5 outpatient visits that I have to go to after my stay at the facility has stopped. At which time they take my blood samples and urine tests. Fascinating stuff! 

Do I wonder how it’s going to effect my body? Of course I do, However I do have steadfast rules to what studies I will and won’t participate in. You have probably read horror stories of them going terribly wrong, for this reason I’d never do a trial where the drug is being tested for the first time on humans. In my view a little too risky! 

Craziest fact, I learn about the drug took this time around…unless I got the placebo (everyone hopes they get a placebo) it will be about 15 years before it hits the shelves. It has to go through that much testing! 

That’s medical trials in a nutshell. Side effects of this one zero so far…which is much better than previous ones I’ve done. 

Above feeling a contribution to society and the future well being of humanity, it does provide a nice injection of money for a video artist.
