I'm excited to be part of this community, to learn from you all and to make my own contributions here. Being a millennial and a gentleman I often feel like I'm the last of a dying breed whenever I look at many of my contemporaries.
think that the biggest contribution I can make here is remind others what it means to be a gentleman most (if not all) of my future posts are going be around that subject. I don’t consider myself a perfect and I also hope to learn to you among other things how to be a better gentleman from this community through the interacts we shall make in the comments section.
I die a little bit inside every time I come I come across men who have forgotten about what it means to be a gentle. Some of these things are:
Gentlemen are chivalrous
- First of all, a gentleman sees all women and girls as lady.
- A gentleman always opens the door, pull the chairs or helps a lady with her coat
- A gentleman is prepared to lay his coat on the ground for her
- A gentlemen will never hit or disrespect a lady. Never.
- A gentleman will protect his lady at all costs. Not just by walking closest to the curb (to protect her from traffic, debris, puddles, ..) but he'll stand up for her when others who may wan to disrespect or disparage.
- A gentleman pays the bill. The lady never sees it.
Gentlemen don’t' play games
- Gentlemen don’t beat around the bush.
- Gentlemen say what they mean and the mean what they say.
- A gentleman doesn't say maybe if he wants to say no
Gentlemen are polite
- Not all people who dress well are gentlemen but all gentlemen know how to dress well in an attire that fits their body size. Tom Ford said it well: "Dressing is a form of good manners".
- Gentlemen say 'please' and 'thank you' very often.
- A gentleman minds his table manners and is never rude to servers, bar tenders or anyone else for that matter.
A gentleman is a man of his word
- A gentleman is always on time and he calls when he says he will
- A gentleman never makes a promise he cannot keep
Gentlemen are romantic
- A gentleman actually takes her out on a date. & when he goes to pick her up, he gets out of the car, and goes to knock on her door - he doesn't blow the horn
I hope the fact that you read this mean means you found this post insightful and that you learnt a thing or two. If I left out anything you think should have been on my lists, please mention it in the comments section below. If you would like more information on something I said, please let me know in the comments below as well and I'll write more about that in a future post. Thanks for reading this far.
I agree there needs to be a lot more chivalry in our society. Honor and respect seem to be ancient concepts to some. It is time to bring it back. Followed you.

Charleston, SC
According to CNTraveler "FRIENDLIEST CITIES: 1. Charleston, South Carolina
One reader put it perfectly: “People speak to each other!" (Ha. All those poor Northeasterners not used to a 'hello' on the street.) "The city is so lovely and easy to get around on foot.” "
Travel + Leisure in its rankings for 2015 said "Charleston, South Carolina, was voted the second-best city in the world and the best city in America and Canada. (Kyoto, Japan, was ranked the No. 1 city in the world.)"
Marjabelle Young Stewart, a renowned expert on etiquette, named Charleston the most polite and best mannered city 11 years in a row until her death in 2007
