Greetings Steemit world

Hey Steemit friends,

I'm sorry, I guess I am doing this a bit after-the-fact, but as a new Steemit user I am still learning the ropes. I’ve had my account for a little over a month, but just started adding content over the past couple days when I realized that I should properly introduce myself.

My name is George and I am Canadian artist who has been living in Taiwan for the past 12 years. I came to Taiwan to earn money as a teacher and pay off student loans, but ended up staying long after that and eventually began running a small restaurant to subsidize my art making habits. I guess my cooking hobby ended up as my current occupation while I managed to amalgamate the two passions turning the restaurant into an art space. (Incidentally, I did attempt to start another Steemit account where I would add content focused on running a restaurant, recipes and cooking, etc, but learned that this was a no-no. Sorry Steemit admin folks, it was merely about separating the blog content). I still have a lot to learn.

My art tends to center around my interest in personal evolution, consciousness and meditation, while I am also interested in ancient cultures, nature, philosophy and even metaphysics from a layman’s perspective. I’ve appreciated the writings of a broad range of authors from Castaneda to Paul Levy, George Gurdjieff to Hermann Hesse and even Rabindranath Tagore. For me, art is an evolving reflection of both my interior and exterior landscape. I attempt to intertwine the subjective and objective into a conversation with the viewer.

I am really pleased to have found an interesting new social platform where I can make friends and share ideas and hope it continues to flourish and develop.
