Hi! My name's Logan.
Im from a small town in New York called Watkins Glen. If you don't follow NASCAR and you aren't a wine connesiuer, there's a good chance that you've never heard of Watkins Glen.

The hippie culture is very alive in this area of New York. In the early 70s the Grateful Dead and the Allmand Brother's Band played a festival called Summer Jam that set a world record for most people in attendance at a music festival with an attendance of 600,000.

Being born and raised in this area has had alot of influence on who I am as a person. I am a peaceful person who only strives to spread love and hope. After all, there's already enough hate and pain in this world isn't there? I have a love for nature and I enjoy the natural landscape around me.

Im 21 years old and so far the only thing I have found that I am exceptionally good at is being myself!

I am excited about Steemit because I see it as a good oppurtunity to inspire change. With lots of different voices and curators, it seems that there are no boundaries to the positivity that a tool like this could bring to society.

I look forward to seeing how Steemit grows & to share some of my knowledge, opinions, and stories with the Steemit community.

welcome to steem it !! So ive never had wine from new york, I hear some the best new world reisiling comes from there. Is that what you guys grow there?

Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir are the 4 Cornell has identified as growing best in the area. The wrote a paper in 2013 about how much it costs to create a new vineyard, you can read about it here

I live in Salinas valley California and there is a sub appellation called the Santa Lucia Highlands. Some of the best californian pinot is starting to come out from here. But I recently just discovered Burgundy wines and damn that french wine is something to low and behold! Im checking out your link now. I love cannabis but wine is a very close second for me!!

@royaleagle is definitely a better person to ask being that he is more knowledgeable in the subject!

Cool a follow for both of you! lol

Yeah its getting really crazy on how much it cost to start a vineyard. some people who drink wine dont understand why the good stuff usually starts at 30-40$ a bottle. And not only staring a vineyard its also the oak they use or great wine making practices, that stuff dont come cheap! NOw if somebody prefers there wine to be made in wood chips vs oak barrells they can just stick to the sutter home stuff, lol I need to seek out some finger lakes wine soon. THanks

Check out this winery. http://www.silverspringswinery.com/ He grows in 3 locations. 2 on Seneca Lake and 1 down on the North Fork of Long Island.

I haven't followed Nascar in years, kind of miss it sometimes honestly. Even when I did though I wasn't familiar with Watkins Glen.

Im 21 years old and so far the only thing I have found that I am exceptionally good at is being myself!

Well then you are doing better than me, I'm not even good at that. lol

Welcome to steemit.

Watkins Glen International has hosted a Nascar race for like the last 50 years. It brings tons of revenue to local businesses and some of my best teenage memories were made on the track property during the week NASCAR was here. Im not a huge NASCAR fan, but I was and am fond of a good time!

Watkins Glen also has an extensive history of road racing, its one of the things that helped build the town

I never paid attention to where the races were. It was just a good way to spend time with my dad on lazy days.

I looked at your picture and it dawned on me, I have heard of "The Glen" before, enough to sound familiar anyway.

Welcome to Steem @hopefulhippie.

Welcome Logan seems like a cool little town and you can always probably grab a bus ride into the city if you want excitement. I'm down in South Florida but just went to visit New Jersey and New York for the first time for Christmas I had a blast. I see you don’t have a Steemit Profile Picture I made a contest post on the bottom is link that will teach you then after you make yours enter the contest to create mine. click here https://steemit.com/contest/@isteemithard/design-isteemithard-a-profile-picture-avatar-contest-6-winner-of-5

Its about a 5 and a half hour car ride from New York City! I have never been to South Florida but jave friends and family who are frim or have lived there.

I'm glad that that hippie culture still has some pockets of influnece like that. Up-voted.
