Hey there :) My first tip would be to go out and upvote, comment and follow people as often as possible. You will make way more off of your comments and curators rewards than making posts initially until you get more followers. Also try not to make super short posts because people want something substantial to actually read. The worst thing you can type is "Upvoted and followed!"- come up with something much more ORIGINAL :)
